UWNNS quickly pivoted its work to respond to the impacts of COVID-19. Achievements for this year include: 33,471 northern Nevada households were provided support with immediate basic needs like rental assistance, food, utility assistance, and mass shelter; 40,000 masks were distributed across Washoe County in partnership with the Governor's COVID-19 task force. UWNNS remained focused on literacy, supporting 3,312 children through early literacy and learning programs that provided high-quality instruction to provide children ages zero to five with the skills necessary to read at grade-level.
UWNNS supported the changing needs of the community through new partnerships, volunteer opportunities, and distributing books. Achievement for the year included:* Delivering with Dignity, a program that provided over 30,000 meals delivered by over 500 volunteers to the doorsteps of Reno/Sparks most vulnerable population.* Northern Nevadans saved $418,336 on prescriptions through Familywize, a discounted prescription program.* 9,143 books were distributed to build home libraries.* 4,000 volunteer hours were managed to impact our community.
UWNNS raised funds for over 100 different agencies through donor designations. These are donations where donors have selected a portion or all of their gifts to be donated to other nonprofit organizations.
