The Washoe Education Association works to protect rights and due process for education professionals serving the Washoe County School District.(Continued on Schedule O)We believe that the best possible working conditions are the best possible learning conditions for the children of Washoe County. It is our goal as an association to advocate for the members in the classroom, at the school site, and with the District, as well as at state and national levels.

Washoe County Teachers Association was formed in 1959 to unify and strengthen the teaching profession and to secure and maintain the salaries, retirement, tenure, professional leave, sick leave, and other working conditions necessary to support teaching as a profession; to enable members to speak with a common voice on matters pertaining to the teaching profession and to present their individual and common interests before the board of education, other legal authorities, and the public; and to work for the welfare of school children and the advancement of education.
