Penuel Ridge is a retreat center located in middle Tennessee, honoring our heritage and fostering values of contemplation, silence, hospitality, rest, social justice, and communion with nature, nurturing the journey inward, to strengthen the journey outward.
Penuel Ridge is a spiritual retreat center, fostering values of contemplation, silence, hospitality, rest, social justice, and communion with nature. Our most significant activities are retreat offerings, a solidarity program with the homeless, and care of creation.
Penuel Ridge remained open and operating at 50% capacity during the COVID-19 pandemic as an essential business (lodging) providing safe and socially-distanced space to engage in self-guided day and overnight retreats. The Retreat Ctr welcomed 1,124 individuals, representing a vast array of spiritual traditions in support of our commitment to interfaith hospitality. Each guest was given the latitude to engage in activities unique to their individual needs while utilizing the tools of contemplation, silence, and rest to replenish their wellspring of strength. Penuel Ridge sponsored one (1) themed retreat which was conducted virtually and in person (to a limited number of people) simultaneously.
The commitment of service to and social justice for the unhoused in our community is at the heart of Penuel Ridge. Regular programming of mentored day retreat opportunities for nearly 50 homeless and formerly homeless women and men was held at Penuel Ridge in January and February of 2020. Although we had to pause the on-site programming from March through December of 2020, service shifted to outreach initiatives with our collaborative partner and held once a week aboard public transportation and through the serving of hot meals from a food truck.
