Organizations Filed Purposes:
CMDA educates, encourages, and equips Christian healthcare professionals to glorify God. Christian healthcare professionals glorify God by following Christ, serving with excellence and compassion, caring for all people, and advancing Biblical principles of healthcare within the Church and throughout the world.
CMDA's Global Health Outreach ministry (GHO) coordinated 31 short-term medical, dental, and surgical mission trips to developing countries this year, with approximately 638 qualified volunteers seeing 37,325 patients. GHO combines evangelistic outreach with desperately needed healthcare to demonstrate the love and compassion of Christ in a material way. National doctors in needy countries are also invited to join our teams and learn new techniques/information as our physicians, nurses, dentists, and other medical personnel share their knowledge and faith.CMDA's Medical Education International program (MEI) is a short-term missions program that sends teams to teach in international academic or clinical settings to bring transformation by advancing medical, dental, bioethical, and educational knowledge while sharing the Gospel. MEI accomplished this goal this year through the services of 85 volunteers on 16 teams that travelled to 10 countries.
Regional Campus and Community Ministries:CMDA staff and members support and serve in a variety of activities on campus (for healthcare students) and in local communities (for graduate physician, dentists and other healthcare professionals). These include Bible studies, prayer breakfasts, sharing groups, conferences and service projects. CMDA has campus ministries on over 320 healthcare campuses, with more than 5,000 students participating, including medical, dental, physician assistant, physical therapy, nursing and other students. Regional Directors, Area Directors, Associate Staff, Campus Advisors and student leaders oversee these activities. Each year, numerous volunteers participate in many CMDA outreach programs.
Conferences and Seminars:CMDA seeks to encourage, train and equip healthcare professionals and students in their professional lives by providing conferences on evangelism, marriage, bioethical issues, women in healthcare, family and more. National conventions and regional seminars allow members to network with colleagues, hear renowned Christian speakers and discuss professional and spiritual issues. CMDA is approved to offer Category 1 Continuing Medical Education (CME) for physicians, as well as Continuing Dental Education (CDE) for dentists. CMDA offers continuing medical and dental educational credits in the USA and on some GHO and MEI mission trips, as well as in an annual overseas conference for missionaries and national doctors to provide their required yearly continuing education requirements which may have been difficult for the missionaries to otherwise obtain.
