Organizations Filed Purposes: TO PROMOTE THE INDEPENDENCE OF RESIDENTS NORTH OF THE RIVER BY PROVIDING A HAND-UP THROUGH EDUCATION AND ASSISTANCE

TO PROVIDE A HAND-UP THROUGH EDUCATION AND ASSISTANCE TO RESIDENTS NORTH OF THE RIVER.

THE CHILDREN'S EDUCATION PROGRAMS INCLUDE YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMMING FOR GRADES K-12 AND SERVED 770 STUDENTS. COMMUNITY SCHOOLS STAFFED BY NNH ARE A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT BETWEEN THE NNH, RED BANK HIGH, HIXSON MIDDLE AND SODDY DAISY MIDDLE SCHOOLS. COMMUNITY SCHOOL COORDINATORS FACILITATE AN AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM AND SUPPORTS FOR STUDENTS AND FAMILIES DURING THE DAY AS WELL. 100% OF OUR PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL OR WERE SLATED TO GRADUATE IN 2019 DID. STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN PROGRAMMING ARE REFERRED THROUGH THE PRINCIPALS AND GUIDANCE COUNSELORS OF THE SCHOOLS SERVED. THESE ARE CHILDREN WHO ARE STRUGGLING EITHER SOCIALLY OR ACADEMICALLY AND NEED EXTRA SUPPORT. 89% OF CLASSES TAKEN BY STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMMING CONSISTENTLY WERE PASSED. 90% OF STUDENTS HAD ACCEPTABLE ATTENDANCE RATES. THE GRADUATION RATE AT RED BANK HIGH SCHOOL HAS MOVED FROM 78.5 TO 85.7 SINCE THE INCEPTION OF THIS PROGRAM IN 2016.

THE STABILITY PROGRAM HAS AN EMERGENCY DIRECT ASSISTANCE COMPONENT AND ADULT EDUCATION PIECE. THE EMERGENCY DIRECT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM PROVIDES FINANCIAL HELP WITH UTILITIES, PRESCRIPTIONS AND FOOD. DURING THE HOLIDAYS, NNH DISTRIBUTES FOOD AND TOYS TO FAMILIES IN NEED. SCHOOL SUPPLIES ARE ALSO DISTRIBUTED TO FAMILIES IN NEED. 2,955 INDIVIDUALS WERE SERVED IN 2019; THIS IS AN UNDUPLICATED COUNT. 67% OF THOSE HOUSEHOLDS SERVED HAD A HOUSEHOLD INCOME OF $20,000 OR LESS. 518 UTILITY BILLS WERE PAID. EACH HOUSEHOLD IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING A PORTION OF THEIR BILL BEFORE NNH FUNDS ARE USED. 16,743 MEALS WERE DISTRIBUTED THROUGH FOOD PACKAGES. A TOTAL OF 32 PRESCRIPTIONS WERE FILLED. 4,171 MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS WERE DISTRIBUTED INCLUDING TOYS FOR THE CHRISTMAS PROGRAM, SCHOOL SUPPLIES, DIAPERS, FORMULA, SOAP AND PAPER PRODUCTS. OVER 400 CHILDREN RECEIVED TOYS THROUGH THE ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PROGRAM. EVERY CLIENT IS CLEARED THROUGH AN ONLINE SYSTEM BEFORE BEING SEEN TO MAKE SURE THERE IS NO DUPLICATION OF SERVICES. SUPPORTS WITHIN THE PROCESS SUCH AS RESUME BUILDING, JOB SEARCH SUPPORT AND BUDGETING ADVICE PROVIDE MUCH NEEDED RESOURCES TO AID IN CLIENTS' FUTURE INDEPENDENCE. FOLLOW-UP CALLS MAINTAIN A LEVEL OF CONNECTIVITY AND SUPPORT OUTSIDE OF FINANCIAL HELP GIVEN. VOLUNTEER TAX ASSISTANCE WAS ALSO PROVIDED TO CLIENTS. HEALTHY FAMILIES PROGRAM PROVIDES COOKING, COMPUTER AND FAMILY DINNER NIGHTS WHICH FOCUS ON A PARENTING TOPIC; ALL OF THESE ARE DESIGNED TO INCREASE INDIVIDUAL'S AND FAMILY'S SELF-SUFFICIENCY. 1,020 PEOPLE WERE SERVED THROUGH THIS PROGRAM IN 2019. 23 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE NNH HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY PROGRAM WHICH IS A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT WITH TENNESSEE COLLEGE OF APPLIED TECHNOLOGY. 3 ADULTS EARNED THEIR HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY DEGREE IN 2019.

THREE THRIFT STORES PROVIDE NEEDED CLOTHING, FURNITURE, AND OTHER ITEMS TO RESIDENTS AT A MINIMAL COST. THE THRIFT STORES SERVED 77,734 CUSTOMERS IN 2019. COLLABORATIONS WITH LOCAL AGENCIES PROVIDE CLIENTS WITH CLOTHING & HOUSEHOLD ITEMS FOR FREE. $11,634 IN GOODS WAS GIVEN TO INDIVIDUALS FROM PARTNER AGENCIES IN 2019.
