TO REDUCE THE "MADNESS" BY TOUCHING LIVES AND OFFERING HOPE TO YOUTH, FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES IN AN AT-RISK CULTURE.
THE ORGANIZATION SERVED AND TOUCHED THE LIVES OF MORE THAN 500 YOUTH DURING 2015. DURING THIS REPORTING PERIOD, STOP THE MADNESS OPERATED ITS SCHOOL- BASED MENTORING PROGRAM TITLED, "HE MATTERS/SHE MATTERS," SERVING 7TH AND 8TH GRADE YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN IN SEVERAL OF HAMILTON COUNTY'S LOWEST- PERFORMING SCHOOLS. THE STUDENTS WERE IDENTIFIED BASED ON HIGH-RISK FACTORS OF POOR ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE, ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOR, POOR ATTENDANCE AND HIGH SUSPENSION RATES. IN ADDITION, 100% REPORTED THAT PARTICIPATING IN THE PROGRAM HELPED THEM TO IDENTIFY AND BEGIN REDUCING NEGATIVE THOUGHT PATTERNS AND BEHAVIORS; 100% DEVELOPED POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH PEERS AND ADULT MENTORS, AND 98% DEVELOPED AND OR ENHANCED THEIR LIFE AND SOCIAL SKILLS. DURING 2015, THE ORGANIZATION ALSO EXPERIENCED TREMENDOUS SUCCESS THROUGH THE OPERATION OF SEVERAL AFTER-SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAMS, AS WELL AS A SUMMER YOUTH ENRICHMENT CAMP THAT SERVED MORE THAN 100 YOUTH.
