THE PRIMARY MISSION OF PHP OF ALABAMA, INC. IS TO OPERATE MEDICAID WAIVER GROUP HOMES AND A DAY PROGRAM FOR MENTALLY HANDICAPPED ADULTS IN ALABAMA.
OVER MANY YEARS, A LOT OF PROGRESS HAS BEEN MADE IN SERVING THE DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED. TODAY, THEY ARE NO LONGER SECLUDED BUT ARE VISIBLE MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY WHERE THEY WORK AND LIVE. IN 1990 OUR FOUNDERS HAD A VISION THAT HIGH-QUALITY SERVICES COULD BE PROVIDED TO INDIVIDUALS BY PURCHASING FOR-PROFIT GROUP HOMES AND THEN CONVERTING THEM INTO NON-PROFIT HOMES. THIS APPROACH ALLOWS PHP TO: PROMOTE PUBLIC/PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP IN HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES PROMOTE EXCELLENCE AND INNOVATION IN THE DELIVERY OF HEALTHCARE SERVICES REMOVE THE PROFIT MOTIVE FROM DECISION MAKING TO THE FULLEST EXTENT POSSIBLE ENCOURAGE INNOVATIVE APPROACHES TO PROVIDING HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES
