Organizations Filed Purposes:
BROTHER'S KEEPER SHALL PROVIDE AN EDUCATIONAL DAY PROGRAM THAT FACILITATES THE CONTINUED INTELLECTUAL, VOCATIONAL, SOCIAL, SPIRITUAL, AND PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT OF ADULTS WITH MILD TO MODERATE INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES. IN RECOGNITION OF EACH INDIVIDUAL'S UNIQUE, GOD-GIVEN VALUE, ALL TRAINING AND EDUCATION SHALL BE TAILORED TO SUIT THE SPECIAL ABILITIES AND SPECIAL NEEDS OF EACH ADULT SO AS TO MAXIMIZE THEIR OPPORTUNITIES TO LEARN AND SUCCEED. HAVING DEVELOPED LIFE SKILLS IN A SAFE, FAITH-BASED ENVIRONMENT, THESE ADULTS WILL GAIN THE CONFIDENCE TO USE THEIR GOD-GIVEN ABILITIES TO SERVE EACH OTHER AND THE BROADER COMMUNITY, RELYING ON THE LORD FOR HIS GRACIOUS PROVISION ALL THE WHILE.
BROTHERS KEEPER IS A YEAR-ROUND, FAITH-BASED, EDUCATIONAL AND ENRICHMENT PROGRAM FOR YOUNG ADULTS WITH MILD TO MODERATE DISABILITIES. OUR MISSION IS TO "EDUCATE, EMPOWER, AND ENGAGE ADULTS WITH MILD TO MODERATE DISABILITIES IN ORDER FOR THEM TO LEAD PRODUCTIVE AND MEANINGFUL LIVES" WITH A VISION THAT "EVERY ADULT WITH MILD TO MODERATE DISABILITIES WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DEVELOP TO HIS/HER POTENTIAL". OUR GOAL IS TO EMPOWER THESE ADULTS TO MOVE FROM A LIFE OF DEPENDENCY BY EQUIPPING THEM TO ENGAGE WITH THE COMMUNITY LEADNG TO A LIFE FILLED WITH PURPOSE.
BROTHERS KEEPER WILL PROVIDE ADULTS WITH MILD TO MODERATE INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES WITH A FORUM FOR LIFE-LONG LEARNING BY TRAINING AND EDUCATING THEM IN A SUPPORTIVE, FAITH-BASED ENVIRONMENT. THE PROGRAM WILL TRAIN AND EDUCATE THESE ADULTS IN LIFE SKILLS AND FACILITATE A GREATER LEVEL OF INDEPENDENCE, THEREBY ENABLING THEM TO ENGAGE IN THEIR COMMUNITY AND LEAD MEANINGFUL LIVES.
BEGINNING IN THE 2017 YEAR AND CONTINUING THROUGH THE CURRENT YEAR,BROTHERS KEEPER MET THEIR GOAL OF IMPLEMENTING A MODIFIED BUSINESSENTERPRISE WHERE ITEMS WHICH ARE HAND-MADE BY OUR PARTICIPANTS ARE AVAILABLE FOR SALE BY SUGGESTED DONATION AS A FUNDRAISER IN THE COMMUNITY. ADDITIONALLY, THESE HAND-MADE ITEMS (DOG CHEW TOYS,COASTERS, NOTE CARDS) ARE AVAILABLE ON AN ONLINE SHOP FOR SALE BY SUGGESTED DONATION.THERE ARE RANDOM SALES OF THESE ITEMS AS THEY MADE BY THE PARTICIPANTS.NO INVENTORY IS MAINTAINED. WORKING ON THESE HAND-MADE ITEMS GIVES THE STUDENTS MEANINGFUL WORK TO DO; GIVES THEM A JOB; AND ALLOWS THEM TO SEE THE RESULTS OF THEIR LABOR. WORKING ON THESE HAND-MADE ITEMS GIVES THE PARTICIPANTS A REASON TO GET UP IN THE MORNING, A COMMUNITY TO INTERACT WITH WHEN THE ITEMS ARE SOLD, AND SOMETHING PURPOSEFUL TO DO IN LIFE. THIS IS JUST ONE PART OF OUR PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT TO ENRICH THE LIVES OF THESE ADULTS.
