THE NATIONAL EMERGENCY ASISSTNACE, INC.'S (NEA) PRIMARY PURPOSE IS TO AID, SUPPORT AND WORK WITH TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY (TVA) & FEMA IN PROVIDING ASSISTANCE TO STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS AS WELL AS THE CITIZENS OF SUCH GEOGRAPHIC AREAS IN PREPARATION FOR, DURING OR FOLLOWING MAJOR NATURAL DISASTERS OR OTHER FEDERALLY DECLARED EMERGENCIES. UNDER THE FEDERAL RESPONSE PLAN, ALL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES ARE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE WORKERS AND ASSISTANCE TO FEMA WHENEVER AND WHEREVER A MAJOR DISASTER OR EMERGENCY IS DECLARED. DUE TO TVA'S STAFFING CONSTRAINTS, TVA UTILIZES NEA WORKERS (WHO ARE FORMER OR RETIRED TVA EMPLOYEES) TO PROVIDE THE REQUIRED AND NECESSARY ASSISTANCE TO SAVE LIVES AND TO PROTECT PROPERTY, PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY PRIOR, DURING, AND FOLLOWING MAJOR NATURAL DISASTERS OR OTHER FEDERALLY DECLARED EMERGENCIES. AS FORMER TVA EMPLOYEES, NEA STAFF IS HIGHLY TRAINED. NEA PROVIDES THESE WORKERS AT A COST-EFFECTIVE RATE, THEREBY REDUCING THE BURDEN OF GOVERNMENT. IN ADDITION, NEA SUPPORTS OTHER CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS THAT SHARE THE SAME GOALS OF NEA. NEA PROVIDED 101 STAFF AUGMENTATION EMPLOYEES THROUGH TVA TO FEMA IN FISCAL YEAR 2019. NEA WORKED IN 20 STATES ON 24 DIFFERENT DECLARED DISASTERS.
