ALTHOUGH REIMBURSEMENT FOR SERVICES RENDERED IS CRITICAL TO THE OPERATION AND STABILITY OF BAPTIST MEMORIAL HOSPITAL-HUNTINGDON, INC., IT IS RECOGNIZED THAT NOT ALL INDIVIDUALS POSSESS THE ABILITY TO PURCHASE ESSENTIAL MEDICAL SERVICES, AND FURTHER, THAT OUR MISSION IS TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY WITH RESPECT TO PROVIDING HEALTH CARE SERVICES AND HEALTH CARE EDUCATION. THEREFORE, IN KEEPING WITH ITS COMMITMENT TO SERVE ALL MEMBERS OF ITS COMMUNITY, BAPTIST MEMORIAL HOSPITAL-HUNTINGDON, INC. PROVIDES THE FOLLOWING:- FREE CARE AND/OR SUBSIDIZED CARE WHERE THE NEED AND/OR AN INDIVIDUAL'S INABILITY TO PAY CO-EXIST,- CARE PROVIDED TO PERSONS COVERED BY GOVERNMENTAL PROGRAMS AT BELOW COST, AND- HEALTH ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS TO SUPPORT THE COMMUNITY.THESE ACTIVITIES INCLUDE WELLNESS PROGRAMS, COMMUNITY EDUCATION PROGRAMS, AND PROGRAMS FOR THE ELDERLY, HANDICAPPED, MEDICALLY UNDERSERVED, AND A VARIETY OF BROAD COMMUNITY SUPPORT SERVICES. BAPTIST MEMORIAL HOSPITAL-HUNTINGDON, INC. SERVICED 1,247 INPATIENTS, AND PROVIDED MORE THAN 26,430 OUTPATIENT REGISTRATIONS DURING THE FISCAL YEAR ENDED SEPTEMBER 30, 2019.DURING THE FISCAL YEAR, BAPTIST MEMORIAL HOSPITAL-HUNTINGDON, INC.'S PROGRAM SERVICES PRODUCED THE FOLLOWING RESULTS, INCLUDING OUR SENIOR CARE UNIT WHICH IS A GERIATRIC BEHAVIORAL CARE UNIT THAT WE OPENED OCTOBER 1, 2015:- SKILLED NURSING HAD 6,645 PATIENT DAYS AND PERFORMED 17,926 PROCEDURES AT A COST OF $6,883,745.- THE PHARMACY DEPARTMENT DISPENSED 394,549 DOSES OF MEDICATION AT A COST OF $972,176.- THE RADIOLOGY DEPARTMENT PERFORMED 26,189 PROCEDURES AT A COST OF $2,172,190.- THE REHABILITATION DEPARTMENT HAD 48,673 TIME UNITS AT A COST OF $1,066,524.- THE LABORATORY DEPARTMENT PERFORMED 49,725 PROCEDURES AT A COST OF $965,113.BAPTIST MEMORIAL HOSPITAL-HUNTINGDON, INC. PROVIDES CARE TO PERSONS COVERED BY GOVERNMENTAL PROGRAMS FROM WHICH THE HOSPITAL RECEIVES PAYMENT AT LESS THAN MARKET VALUE REIMBURSEMENT. RECOGNIZING ITS MISSION TO THE COMMUNITY, SERVICES ARE PROVIDED TO MEDICARE, MEDICAID AND UNINSURED PATIENTS. TO THE EXTENT REIMBURSEMENT IS BELOW COST, BAPTIST MEMORIAL HOSPITAL-HUNTINGDON, INC. RECOGNIZES THESE AMOUNTS AS CHARITY CARE IN MEETING ITS MISSION TO THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY. DURING THE FISCAL YEAR ENDED SEPTEMBER 30, 2019, THE UNREIMBURSED VALUE OF PROVIDING CARE TO THESE PATIENTS WAS $66,066,142.CHARITY CARE IS ALSO PROVIDED THROUGH MANY REDUCED PRICE SERVICES AND FREE PROGRAMS OFFERED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR BASED UPON ACTIVITIES AND SERVICES THAT BAPTIST MEMORIAL HOSPITAL-HUNTINGDON, INC. BELIEVES WILL SERVE A BONA FIDE COMMUNITY HEALTH NEED. BAPTIST MEMORIAL HOSPITAL-HUNTINGDON, INC. HAS PROVIDED A NUMBER OF SERVICES IN THE COMMUNITY, SOME OF WHICH INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:- DEVELOPED NEWSPAPER ARTICLES THAT PROVIDE THE PUBLIC WITH ONGOING MEDICAL CARE INFORMATION.- MAINTAINED A FACEBOOK PAGE FOR PROVIDING THE PUBLIC WITH ONGOING MEDICAL CARE INFORMATION, SERVICES, AND DONATIONS.- PROVIDED A FREE HEALTH FAIR FOR THE PUBLIC THAT PROVIDED MEDICAL CARE INFORMATION AND FREE SCREENINGS: COMMUNITY HEALTH FAIR.- PROVIDED FREE CARDIAC WELLNESS INFORMATION FOR WOMEN (GO RED FOR WOMEN BOOTH) DURING FEBRUARY IN RECOGNITION OF CARDIAC MONTH.- PROVIDED GIFT/SERVICE RECOVERY ITEMS FOR THE ENHANCEMENT OF CUSTOMER SATISFACTION.- PROVIDED FREE BLOOD PRESSURE/BLOOD SUGAR/CHOLESTEROL SCREENS, HEALTH FAIRS AND POP SOCKETS TO AREA COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR WHEN REQUESTED.- HOME CARE AND HOSPICE DIVISION SPONSORED HEALTH FAIRS FOR LOCAL COMMUNITIES.BAPTIST MEMORIAL HOSPITAL-HUNTINGDON, INC. ALSO PARTICIPATED IN THE FOLLOWING:- BAPTIST MEMORIAL HOSPITAL-HUNTINGDON, INC. AND BAPTIST MEMORIAL REGIONAL REHABILITATION SERVICES, INC. SPONSORED BOOTHS AT THE BUSINESS EXPO TO HELP EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ON SERVICES AVAILABLE AS WELL AS TO PROVIDE MEDICAL INFORMATION TO TAKE HOME.- PARTICIPATED IN THE PARTNERS IN EDUCATION PROGRAM WITH HUNTINGDON MIDDLE SCHOOL AND PROVIDED BASIC HEALTH CHECKS FOR STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN SCHOOL CONFERENCES AND COMMUNITY PROJECTS.- HOSTED A SPEAKERS BUREAU COMPOSED OF HOSPITAL PHYSICIANS, MANAGEMENT AND PROFESSIONAL PERSONNEL AVAILABLE TO SPEAK ON HEALTH CARE RELATED TOPICS DURING THE YEAR TO BUSINESSES, CLUBS, GROUPS, ORGANIZATIONS AND SCHOOLS.- PROVIDED CONSULTATION AND ASSISTANCE TO THE ELDERLY IN DEALING WITH PROBLEM MEDICAL BILLS.- PROVIDED JOB SHADOWING (ON-THE-JOB OBSERVANCE PROGRAM) FOR PROSPECTIVE MEDICAL CAREER STUDENTS.- SERVED AS A TRAINING SITE FOR SEVERAL LOCAL COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES FOR HEALTH CARE CAREERS, I.E.
