Organizations Filed Purposes:
MGTA is committed to building a multiuse, multimodal walking and cycling trail connecting the communities along the path of the historic Mountain Goat Railroad.
The Organization serves as a facilitor in developing the Mountain Goat Trail: a rails-to-trials project to create a multi-use recreational corridor. A total of 8.5 miles has been completed with an additional 20 miles that has been acquired by community partners or government agencies. The Trail promotes economic development and tourism. In 2019, a portion of the completed trail was donated to the Town of Tracy City, TN.
The Organization collaborates with the Grundy County Health Council to sponsor elementary school run clubs, adult walking contests and promote physical activity along the trail.
