BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS IN TENNESSEE RECIEVES GRANTS AND DISTRIBUTES THE PROCEEDS TO THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS IN THE STATE WHO ARE MEMBERS OF THE ORGANIZATION. SPECIFIC GRANTS TO NOTE ARE AS FOLLOWS:21ST CENTURY COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTER GRANTS (21ST CCLC):FUNDED THROUGH FEDERAL FUNDS THAT COME THROUGH THE TENNESSEE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION: SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE SCHOOLS' CENTER FOR EXTENDED LEARNING, THIS GRANT PROGRAM AWARDED TO BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS IN TENNESSEE SERVES HUNDREDS OF YOUTH THROUGH ITS EDUCATIONAL ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS . THESE EDUCATIONAL ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS ARE UNIQUE COMPREHNSIVE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, BUILT UPON THE COMBINATION OF SELECT KEY EVIDENCE-BASED CURRICULUMS WITH REMEDIAL EDUCATION, TUTORING, ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT, AND SUPPLEMENTAL PROGRAMS.LEAP (LOTTERY THROUGH EDUCATION IN AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS)GRANT: FUNDED THROUGH STATE REVENUE OF UNCLAIMED LOTTERY PRIZES (SET ASIDE FOR AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS), THE TENNESSEE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION: SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE SCHOOLS' CENTER FOR EXTENDED LEARNING GRANTED BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS IN TENNESSEE GRANT FUNDS TO SERVE HUNDREDS OF YOUTH THROUGH ITS "GREAT FUTURES START HERE" PROGRAM. THROUGH THE LEAP GRANT, HUNDREDS OF YOUTH AT MULTIPLE CLUB SITES IN TENNESSEE HAVE ACCESS TO EDUCATIONAL ENHANCEMENT AND ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS AFTER SCHOOL TO ENABLE THEM TO ACHIEVE ACADEMIC SUCCESS.TENNESSEE DCS COMMUNITY-BASED CHILD PREVENTION GRANT THE "POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAM" IMPLEMENTATION PLAN WILL USE THE NURTURING PARENTS PROGRAM CURRICULUM AND IS BASED ON THE "NURTURING WAY" APPROACH TO ADDRESS THE ROOT CAUSES OF ABUSE PRIOR TO THE 'FACT' AS PRIMARY PREVENTION PROGRAM. IT IS EASIER TO DEFUSE THE POTENTIAL FOR ABUSE RATHER THAN INTERVENE AFTER THE FACT. "NURTURING PROGRAMS" ARE "DE RIGUER" FOR THE TRAINING OF DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILIES INTO POSITIVE FAMILY UNITS ACROSS THE NATION.THE "BEING THE BEST" ABSTINENCE EDUCATION PROGRAM, SERVING 220 YOUTH, AGES 10 TO 17, IN ELEVEN BOYS & GIRLS CLUB ORGANIZATIONS. THE "BEING THE BEST" PROGRAM WILL BE DELIVERED BY QUALIFIED CLUB PROFESSIONALS IN OUR CLUB'S AFTERSCHOOL AND SUMMER YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS.
