Organizations Filed Purposes:
PRESTON TAYLOR MINISTRIES PROVIDES A MENTORING AND AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM FOR AT-RISK YOUTH FROM KINDERGARTEN-12TH GRADE. AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMMING FOCUSES ON READING DEVELOPMENT, CHARACTER EDUCATION, FAITH DEVELOPMENT, AND HEALTH LIVING. ADDITIONALLY, THE MINISTRY PROVIDES MENTORING THROUGH ONE- ON-ONE RELATIONSHIPS.
AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM: PTM SERVED 275 K-8TH GRADE STUDENTS IN READING DEVELOPMENT, CHRISTIAN DISCIPLESHIP, AND ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES. AS A RESULT, OVER 50% OF STUDENTS IMPROVED THEIR READING LEVEL. ALSO, STUDENTS WERE ABLE TO TAKE PART IN 35 FIELD TRIPS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. OVER 200 STUDENTS WERE ABLE TO GO TO SUMMER DAY AND OVERNIGHT CAMPS. 50 STUDENTS TOOK PART IN PTM LIFE WHERE THEY WERE ABLE TO RUN IN TWO 5KS. ADDITIONALLY, 80 STUDENTS WERE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN A PTM WEEKEND RETREAT.
CALVIN HOUSE YOUTH PROGRAM: PTM SERVED OVER 50 6TH-12TH GRADERS IN THIS PROGRAM PROVIDING WEEKLY GATHERINGS WITH OPPORTUNITIES FOR POSITIVE PEER GROUP FORMATION, BIBLE INSTRUCTIONS, AND A MEAL. PARTICIPANTS IN CALVIN HOUSE ADDITIONALLY ATTENDED OUTINGS AND FIELD TRIPS AS WELL AS RETREATS. ALSO THROUGH CALVIN HOUSE, 20 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN SALT (SERVANT AND LEADERSHIP TRAINING) WHICH PROVIDED TUTORING, LIFE SKILLS, AND SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES.
MENTORING PROGRAMS: PTM PROVIDED ONE-ON-ONE MENTORING THROUGH LUNCHMATE MENTORS, DINNER AND DEVO, BREAKFAST AND BIBLE STUDY, AND SPRINGBREAK IN THE MARKETPLACE. THE COMBINATION OF THESE PROGRAMS ALLOWED PTM TO PLACE OVER 200 YOUTH IN RELATIONSHIPS WITH CARING ADULTS. ADDITIONALLY, PTM PROVIDED MENTORING FOR RECENT HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES THROUGH ITS THRIVE PROGRAM. IN THIS PROGRAM, YOUNG ADULTS CONTINUE TO MEET WITH MENTORS AS A SMALL GROUP TO BUILD SUPPORT AND ACCOUNTABILITY. FURTHER, PTM PROVIDED SUMMER SALT FOR 15 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO HAVE PAID SUMMER JOBS AND A RELATIONSHIP WITH A CARING ADULT SUPERVISOR AND COACH.
