OUR MISSION AT HOPE OF EAST TENNESSEE, INC., IN COLLABORATION WITH RIDGEVIEW MENTAL HEALTH CENTER, IS TO PROVIDE THE HIGHEST QUALITY TREATMENT AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT TO MEN AND WOMEN SEEKING RECOVERY FROM SUBSTANCE USE DISORDERS AND CO-OCCURRING MENTAL HEALTH DISORDERS. THESE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED WITHOUT REGARD TO RACE, RELIGION, NATIONAL ORIGIN, SEXUAL PREFERENCE, OR FINANCIAL STATUS.
TO PROVIDE TREATMENT AND SUPPORT TO INDIVIDUALS SEEKING RECOVERY FROM SUBSTANCE USE DISORDERS.
HOPE OF EAST TENNESSEE, INC. ("HOPE") WAS CHARTERED IN 1976 IN THE STATE OF TENNESSEE AS A NON-PROFIT CORPORATION AND IS GOVERNED BY A VOLUNTEER BOARD OF DIRECTORS. HOPE OPERATES A MEN'S RESIDENCE, REFERRED TO AS, OPPORTUNITY HOUSE. OPPORTUNITY HOUSE IS A "THERAPEUTIC COMMUNITY," MEANING THAT MUCH OF THE DECISION MAKING POWER IS IN THE HANDS OF THE MEN WHO LIVE THERE. THE PRINCIPLE OF PEERS HELPING PEERS HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED TO BE ONE OF THE MOST EFFECTIVE MODELS OF RECOVERY. PEERS HELP EACH OTHER AS THEY HELP THEMSELVES. DECISIONS REGARDING PRIVILEGE LEVELS, DISCHARGES, ETC. ARE MADE BY THE STAFF. EACH RESIDENT HAS A THOROUGH ASSESSMENT COMPLETED AFTER ADMISSION, IS ASSIGNED A PRIMARY COUNSELOR/CASE MANAGER, AND BEGINS A SPECIALIZED COURSE OF TREATMENT DEPENDING ON NEEDS AND PROBLEMS. THERE IS NO FIXED LENGTH OF STAY AT THE RESIDENCE. THE LENGTH OF STAY CAN BE AS LONG AS 90 TO 120 DAYS AS NEEDED TO ACCOMPLISH TREATMENT GOALS. RESIDENTS PAY A WEEKLY FEE OF $110.00 TO COVER ROOM, BOARD, AND COUNSELING PROVIDED ON-SITE. DRUG SCREENS ARE PERFORMED AT ADMISSION AND RANDOMLY OR "FOR CAUSE" DURING THE STAY. IN ADDITION, HOPE OPERATES TRANSITIONAL RESIDENCES. THESE RESIDENCES ARE INTENDED TO PROVIDE LOW COST LIVING IN A SUPPORTIVE AND SOBER ENVIRONMENT FOR THOSE WHO NEED A STEPPING STONE FROM THE MORE STRUCTURED ENVIRONMENT OF THE RECOVERY RESIDENCES INTO INDEPENDENT LIVING. THIS COMPLEX CONSISTS OF (3) DUPLEX APARTMENT UNITS THAT CAN HOUSE UP TO (14) MEN AND WOMEN. APARTMENTS ARE FULLY FURNISHED. SUPPORTIVE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED. THE LENGTH OF STAY IS GENERALLY 3 TO 6 MONTHS.
RECOGNIZING THE NEED FOR OUTPATIENT ADDICTIONS TREATMENT, HOPE ESTABLISHED AN OUTPATIENT PROGRAM IN 1999. THIS PROGRAM IS AVAILABLE TO THOSE WHO NEED INTENSIVE TREATMENT COUPLED WITH A LONG TERM RESIDENTIAL STAY AND FOR THOSE WHO ARE CAPABLE OF GETTING THE TREATMENT NEEDED WHILE REMAINING AT HOME AND ON THE JOB. IN ADDITION TO ASSESSMENTS, HOPE OFFERS AN INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM, AN EDUCATIONAL GROUP PROGRAM, AFTERCARE, INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING, AND SPECIAL FOCUSED GROUPS SUCH AS RELAPSE PREVENTION AND CO-OCCURRING DISORDERS. OUR INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM OFFERS DAILY GROUPS THAT MEET FOR THREE HOURS FOUR TIMES WEEKLY OVER 8 WEEKS. EACH SESSION INCLUDES EDUCATION ABOUT ADDICTIONS, LEARNING AND PRACTICING COPING SKILLS NEEDED FOR LASTING SOBRIETY, AND GROUP THERAPY. STRONG EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON THE USE OF 12 STEP PROGRAMS FOR SUPPORT AND PRINCIPLES FOR CHANGE. HOPE'S INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM IS A ROUTINE PART OF THE PROGRAM FOR RESIDENTS OF THE OPPORTUNITY HOUSE WHO REQUIRE/NEED INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT TREATMENT. INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT TREATMENT IS AVAILABLE TO INDIGENT CLIENTS AS WELL AS THOSE HAVING TENNCARE COVERAGE.
