Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Foundation is charged with raising, managing and distributing charitable gift support for Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge (MMC) in order to perpetuate and advance the highest quality of health care services at MMC. Donations to the Foundation support health care programs, services, education and equipment at MMC not otherwise funded or reimbursable by public or private insurance. The Foundation's mission is to assist MMC with extending the gift of life to all those in need, regardless of their ability to pay.

The Hospitality Houses of Methodist Medical Center provide temporary lodging for patients and families who must travel long distances for treatment at Methodist Medical Center or Thompson Cancer Survival Center at Methodist. The three homes offer a total of 12 fully-furnished apartments; shared kitchen, dining, laundry and family rooms; stocked pantries; transportation assistance as needed; and free parking. The program is supported entirely by charitable contributions.Guests of the Hospitality Houses stay as long as they need, free of charge. Since the first house opened in 1997, thousands of guests have received lodging. In 2019, the houses served 243 guests and provided 2,968 nights of stay for patients and families receiving cancer treatment, ICU/CCU care, and wound care at Methodist Medical Center.The Hospitality Houses welcomed patients and guests from 20 counties across Tennessee, as well as 17 other states and the District of Columbia, in 2019.
Contributions from the Covenant Health's annual employee giving campaign support the Jack Sills Chaplain's Benevolence Fund at Methodist Medical Center which provides emergency assistance for employees, patients, and patient families in times of crisis. In 2019, the fund assisted 246 patients and 60 employees with emergency aid for food, housing, transportation, medications/medical equipment, funeral expenses, and utilities.
MMC Foundation provides funding to support ongoing cancer tumor conferences with physicians and other oncology clinicians to evaluate patients and create the best possible treatment plans for their cancer care, including clinical trials where appropriate. In 2019, 44 tumor conferences were held with physicians representing clinical specialties of surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, radiology and pathology. Throughout the year, 187 patient cases were presented for review and discussion. The top cancer sites among those patients were breast, lung, colorectal, lymphoma, and head and neck. All 187 cases were clinically staged, used clinical guidelines in treatment planning, and were evaluated for clinical trials.
