ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDE MENTORING 28 STUDENTS (12 IN 2019 AND 16 IN 2020) IN A MONTHLY LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT CURRICULUM THAT INCLUDED 50-60 HOURS OF WORKSHOPS ON PROGRAM PLANNING AND EVALUATION, UNDERSTANDING THE SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH, COMMUNICATION SKILLS, INTER-PROFESSIONAL TEAMWORK, CULTURAL HUMILITY AND SELF-CARE. INDIVIDUALS RECEIVE LEADERSHIP ASSESSMENTS AND PERSONALIZED COACHING FOR SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND THE PROMOTION OF HUMANISTIC VALUES.
2. ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS RECEIVED BENEFIT THROUGH GROUP WORKSHOPS AND INFORMATION AND REFERRAL CONNECTING STUDENTS TO COMMUNITY SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS , CREATING MECHANISMS FOR THE SCHOOLS TO OFFER EXPERIENTIAL EDUCATION TO GRADUATE STUDENTS. ACCOMPLISHMENTS ALSO INCLUDE CREATING A CULTURE OF SERVICE, WHICH WAS ACHIEVED IN SEVEN SCHOOLS IN 2019 AND 10 IN 2020 WHICH HAD STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN THE FELLOWSHIP; SOME INSTITUTIONS BENEFIT, FOR EXAMPLE, THROUGH THE CREATION OF NEW SERVICE-ORIENTED STUDENT GROUPS OR VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR ADDITIONAL STUDENTS.
COMMUNITIES BENEFITED THROUGH 200 HOURS OF SERVICE THROUGH EACH FELLOWSHIP PROJECT, FOR A TOTAL OF 2,948 HOURS THIS PAST FISCAL YEAR VALUED AT OVER $74,967. PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN INCLUDE HEALTH EDUCATION FOR SENIORS WITH HYPERTENSION OR DIABETES; LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT FOR AFRICAN-AMERICAN MALE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS; HEALTHY EATING AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY FOR ELEMENTARY GIRLS; COLLEGE AND CAREER COACHING FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS; TEACHING DECISION-MAKING AND DRUG RESISTANCE EDUCATION TO YOUTH IN JUVENILE JUSTICE; INCREASING ADHERENCE TO MENTAL HEALTH APPOINTMENTS FOR YOUTH IN CRISIS; AND MORE.
