Organizations Filed Purposes:
Rescuing basset hounds from animal "kill" centers,protecting neglected basset hounds, basset hounds that can no longer be properly cared for by current owners, and other high-risk situations. Rescued animals are medically treated and offered for adoption or temporary sponsorship until adoption can be arranged.
Dedicated solely to rescuing and finding loving homes for homeless or needy basset hounds from all over the state of Alabama. Rescues come from shelters, owners surrendering pets, and unclaimed strays. Every hound is fully vetted, spayed or neutered, heartworm treated if positive, evaluated and placed in loving foster homes until "forever homes" can be found. Since 2000, BHRA has taken in and placed over 1,500 hounds to loving homes! In 2013, 22 rescued basset hounds were adopted by new families.
