Common Thread is a community of Micro Churches on mission together to reach the lost and the poor. We do this through Marketplace activities as well as community and socioeconomic involvement.
The first program service accomplishment is that of marketplace initiatives and socioeconomic development. We have formed businesses in order to create jobs for the underprivileged, provide job training and life skills as well as ethically source coffee and tea around the world, while building up the local communities that the marketplace initiatives exist in.
The second program service accomplishment is that of housing and neighborhood development. This program allows minorities to gain management and construction skills while bettering neighborhoods through social, communal, and economic involvement. We also hold fair home rental prices and help families work towards home ownership. This holistic family involvement attempts to build up local neighborhoods that have been historically neglected.
The third program service accomplishment includes local and global community missions. This program encompasses a board range of philanthropic efforts. Locally in Birmingham, AL our mission includes that of education, orphan care, single mother support, prison outreach, crisis housing, care for the homeless, minority leadership development, outreach to the refugee and international individuals, holisitc neighborhood programs, and organizational network coaching in other cities. Globally our mission includes outreach, entrepreneurial training, and orphan care in the upper Amazon region of Brazil and Columbia. Also our mission includes outreach, community empowerment, and economic development through coffee farming in the Paksong region of Laos.
