EARLY LEARNING PROGRAM - CHILDREN AGE 6 WEEKS TO FIVE YEARS WHO HAVE DELAYS IN ONE OR MORE AREAS OF DEVELOPMENT AND THOSE WHO ARE TYPICALLY DEVELOPING LEARN SIDE BY SIDE IN NINE SPACIOUS CLASSROOMS. DESIGNED BY EDUCATORS AND DEVELOPMENTAL SPECIALISTS TO MEET THE NEEDS OF ALL CHILDREN, THE HAND IN HAND FACILITY IS SITUATED ON SEVEN ACRES OF WOODED LANDSCAPE, BUTTERFLY GARDENS, A VEGETABLE AND FLOWER GARDEN AND NATURE TRAILS. EACH ASPECT OF THE BUILDING, THE PROGRAM AND THE ENVIRONMENT HAS BEEN CAREFULLY DESIGNED TO PROMOTE A HEALTHY, SAFE AND HAPPY SETTING IN WHICH CHILDREN CAN LEARN AND GROW. HOURS OF OPERATION ARE FROM 7:00 AM TO 6:00 PM MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.
EARLY INTERVENTION PROGRAM - THE HAND IN HAND EARLY INTERVENTION PROGRAM OFFERS SERVICES AND INTERVENTIONS THAT ENABLE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES A MORE INDEPENDENT AND INTEGRATED LIFESTYLE WITHIN THEIR COMMUNITY. IT IS A COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM FOR INFANTS AND TODDLERS BETWEEN THE AGES OF BIRTH TO THREE YEARS WITH THE MAIN LOCATION IN BIRMINGHAM. OVER 400 CHILDREN AND FAMILIES A MONTH REAP THE BENEFITS OF EARLY INTERVENTION. HAND IN HAND PARTICIPATES IN ALABAMA'S EARLY INTERVENTION SYSTEM AND HAS BECOME THE LARGEST PROVIDER OF EARLY INTERVENTION SERVICES OF ITS TYPE IN THE STATE.
ADULT DAY HABILITATION - THE ADULT DAY PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO MEET THE NEEDS OF INDIVIDUALS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. EACH INDIVIDUAL HAS THE OPPORTUNITY TO SELECT THE TRAINING AND SERVICES THEY WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA REQUIRE A DIAGNOSIS OF A DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY AND THE ABILITY FOR THE PROGRAM TO MEET THE INDIVIDUAL'S NEEDS. IN ADDITION, EACH PERSON MUST DEMONSTRATE MANAGEABLE BEHAVIOR, RESIDE IN THE GREATER BIRMINGHAM METROPOLITAN AREA, AND BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OLD.
