Camp Seale Harris is a comprehensive diabetes support program educating children with diabetes in medically supervised camps and community events how to independently self manage diabetes for best long-term health. In 2020, 768 people including 510 children with diabetes ages 0-19 and family were served in 8 program sites located in Alabama and northwest Florida. The program is annually delivered in 7 residential weeks, 5 day camp weeks, and 12 community day events. In 2020, 12 of 24 total sessions were delivered by interactive livestream Zoom due to COVID-19. Participants received diabetes education and care and ongoing peer support. Outcomes included participant improved independence in diabetes care skills, knowledge, and psychosocial well-being.
