COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES INCLUDING EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES FACED WITH AUTISM
THE EARLY EDUCATION PROGRAM IS AN INCLUSIVE PROGRAM THAT IS DESIGNED TO PROMOTE GENERALIZATION OF SKILLS, EXPAND AGE-APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE, AND PROMOTE SOCIAL SKILLS TRAINING IN A TYPICAL PRESCHOOL SETTING FOR CHILDREN AGES 4-6. THIS PROGRAM OFFERS A HIGHLY STRUCTURED CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR RESEARCH-BASED INTEGRATED PLAY AND SOCIAL OPPORTUNITIES. THE PRIMARY EDUCATION CLASS PROGRAMS ARE AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS AGES 6-12 THROUGH OUR PRIVATE SCHOOL. OUR PROGRAMS OFFER A HIGHLY STRUCTURED COMMUNITY-BASED INSTRUCTION AND INDIVIDUALIZED TUTORING IN CORE ACADEMIC AREAS TO ENHANCE SKILLS AND FLUENCY IN READING, MATH, AND WRITING. AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM SERVES SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN WHO ATTEND REGULAR PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS AND NEED ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTION AND SUPPORT IN THE AREA OF SOCIAL SKILLS DEVELOPMENT. THE FOCUS OF OUR AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM IS ON SOCIAL LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT, PEER INTERACION, RELATIONSHIP DEVELOPMENT, AND OVERALL SOCIAL SKILLS.
THE ABA AND IN-HOME CLINIC PROGRAM PROVIDES INDIVIDUAL BEHAVIORAL THERAPY FOR CHILDREN AGES 18 MOS.-5 YEARS BASED ON THE PRINCIPLES OF APPLIED BEHAVIORAL ANALYSIS (ABA) FOR CHILDREN DIAGNOSED WITH AUTISM. THE ABA APPROACH INCLUDES SPECIALIZED INSTRUCTION IN THE AREAS OF COMMUNICATION, BEHAVIOR, COGNITION, DAILY LIVING AND SOCIAL PLAY SKILLS. IT IS THE ONLY RESEARCH PROVEN METHOD USED TO TREAT AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS. IN HOME ONE ON ONE THERAPY EXPANDED SERVICES TO MEET A GROWING NEED TO TRAIN, EDUCATE, AND PROVIDE ABA THERAPY IN THE HOME SETTING WHEN NEEDED.
OUR ANCILLARY PROGRAMS INCLUDE A MULTIDISCIPLINARY AUTISM PRE-SCREENING CLINIC, SPEECH AND LANGUAGE SERVICES, OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY SERVICES AND CONSULTING AND TRAINING. OUR SCREENING CLINIC PERFORMS COMPREHENSIVE AUTISM SCREENINGS FOR CHILDREN REFERRED TO THE CENTER FROM PEDIATRICIANS, PARENTS, AND OTHER PROVIDERS. OUTPATIENT SPEECH AND LANGUAGE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED BY A LICENSED SPEECH PATHOLOGIST DESIGNED TO MEET THE COMMUNICATION NEEDS OF CHILDREN WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER. OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY SERVICES ARE PROVIDED BY A LICENSED THERAPIST WHO SPECIALIZES IN THE TREATMENT OF SENSORY AND FINE MOTOR DEFICITS. OUR BEHAVIOR AND EDUCATIONAL CONSULTANTS PROVIDE STAFF TRAINING, CONDUCT STUDENT OBSERVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR NORTH ALABAMA AREA SCHOOLS.
