POW-MIA PROGRAM - RAISES AWARENESS OF THE POW/MIA ISSUE WITHIN ALABAMA COMMUNITIES BY DISPLAYING THE POW/MIA FLAG, DISSEMINATING INFORMATION THROUGH BULLETINS AND NEWSLETTERS, AND SPONSOR EVENTS WITH COMMUNITY LEADERS TO HIGHLIGHT THE POW/MIA ISSUE2. VETERANS DAY PARADE - PROMOTE VETERANS IN THE COMMUNITY BY HOSTING A PARADE TO HONOR VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES.3. OTHER - VARIOUS PROGRAMS THAT BENEFIT THE COMMUNITY IN GENERAL AND PROMOTE VETERANS IN THE COMMUNITY.
CONFERENCES AND MEETINGS CONDUCTED TO BRING MEMBERS TOGETHER TO EDUCATE THEM ON NATIONAL AND STATE DEVELOPMENTS WITH REGARD TO VETERANS AND MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES
SCHOLARSHIP AND AWARD PROGRAMS SPONSORED BY THE VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS NATIONAL ASSOCIATION. THESE PROGRAMS PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS TO VARIOUS INDIVIDUALS BASED ON SET CRITERIA. THESE INDIVIDUALS ARE:1. HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS - PATRIOTIC THEME WRITING AND BROADCAST SCRIPT RECORDING2. HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS - ESSAY EXPRESSING VIEWS ON DEMOCRACY3. TEACHERS - PROMOTING CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION4. SCOUTS - INDIVIDUALS WHO EXEMPLIFY EXCEPTIONAL QUALITIES AS AN EAGLE SCOUT, GIRL SCOUT GOLD AWARD RECIPIENT, VENTURE SILVER AWARD RECIPIENTS, AND SEA SCOUT QUARTERMASTERS.5. LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICAL, EMERGANCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN, AND FIREFIGHTERS
