THE PRESBYTERIAN HOME FOR CHILDREN PROVIDES A RESIDENTIAL THERAPEUTIC TREATMENT PROGRAM FORTEENAGE GIRLS WHO MAY HAVE EXPERIENCED EXTREME TRAUMA AND/OR NEGLECT. YOUTH RESIDE IN FACILITIESOWNED BY THE HOME AND ARE PROVIDED WITH LIFE-SKILLS TRAINING, EDUCATION, COUNSELING, AND LOVE INA CHRISTIAN ATMOSPHERE. THE CHILDREN ARE REFERRED BY THE STATE OF ALABAMA THROUGH THE DEPARTMENTOF HUMAN RESOURCES. EDUCATION IS PROVIDED BY ASCENSION LEADERSHIP ACADEMY, AN OFF-CAMPUS FULLYCOGNIA-ACCREDITED SCHOOL, THAT IS PART OF THE ORGANIZATION AND MEETS BOTH THE NEEDS OF THERESIDENTS AND PRIVATE-PAY STUDENTS FROM THE COMMUNITY.

ASCENSION LEADERSHIP ACADEMY IS A COGNIA ACCREDITED PRIVATE SCHOOL IN TALLADEGA, ALABAMA. THEACADEMY SERVES PRIVATE-PAY STUDENTS FROM THE LOCAL COMMUNITY, AND CHILDREN RESIDING AT THEPRESBYTERIAN HOME FOR CHILDREN. RESIDENTIAL STUDENTS HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THEIR HOMES DUE TONEGLECT OR ABUSE OR THEY ARE CHILDREN OF HOMELESS CAREGIVERS RESIDING AT THE HOME WHILE THECAREGIVER ACQUIRES SKILLS NECESSARY FOR EMPLOYMENT AND PERMANENT DWELLING OPTIONS. THE ACADEMY'SACCREDITED PROGRAM UTILIZES A PERSONALIZED INSTRUCTIONAL APPROACH WITH EACH STUDENT TO MAXIMIZETHEIR OPPORTUNITY FOR SUCCESS. THE COGNIA ACCREDITED INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM'S FOUNDATION IS BASEDON CURRICULUM STANDARDS SET FORTH IN REQUIREMENTS OF THE ALABAMA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION STATECOURSES OF STUDY AND PROMOTES LEADERSHIP, RESPONSIBILITY, ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE, AND COMMUNITYINVOLVEMENT AS INTEGRAL PARTS OF THE ACADEMIC PROGRAM.

TRANSITION TO ADULT LIVING IS A MINISTRY THAT PROVIDES TRANSITIONAL HOUSING FOR YOUNG WOMEN IN CRISIS AGES 19-24. THE PROGRAM'S GOAL IS TO EDUCATE, EQUIP, AND EMPOWER YOUNG WOMEN TO BECOME INDEPENDENT. CLIENTS RECEIVE CLASSES IN FINANCIAL LITERACY TRAINING, JOB INTERVIEW PREPARATION AND HOW TO ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS. THE ORGANIZATION MEETS EACH YOUNG WOMAN WHERE SHE IS ON HER LIFE JOURNEY AND ASSISTS HER IN MAPPING OUT AND REACHING HER GOALS.
