Organizations Filed Purposes:
The mission of the Brownville Concer Series is to bring professional, live performances to Southeast Nebraska through 24-25 events each year. The performers must have significant national or international reputations. Each performer is required to do community outreach activities reaching several hundred students annually in this rural, underserved area in Southeast Nebraska, Northwest Missouri, Southwest Iowa and Northeast Kansas.
The 2019 Concert Season showcased 9 sets of performers who performed 25 shows including Classical, NY Broadway & Cabaret, Jazz, Bluegrass & Rock. Performers also performed free at 3 nursing homes and 3 schools plus gave 3 Master Classes and Musical Workshops. The only paid staff are about 13 area High School or College Music Students who work as backstage techs and learn the ropes of musical production including lighting & sound. They receive minimum wage to help pay for college.
