Organizations Filed Purposes:
Nebraska Municipal Power Pool provides a variety of energy-related services to its member communities, including the areas of electric distribution efficiency & reliability, utility & business software management, financial planning cost of service/rate studies & utility training & education.
Provide computer software programs to approximately 180 municipalities with populations ranging from 70 to 10,300. The computer software programs include a complete financial billing package, or the packages can be purchased individually, depending on the needs of the community. The packages include: general ledger, utility billing, inventory control, accounts payable, payroll, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation, time sheet, and service orders. New user workshops and annual "refresher" workshops are held throughout the Nebraska Municipal Power Pool (NMPP) service area.
Provide electric distribution related services which include: Cost of service/rate design studies/financial plans to aid decision makers in the understanding of system costs and assistance in determining customer rates; mutual aid to assist member communities in the event of a natural disaster or emergency; electric distribution services to assist in the maintenance of member distribution systems; infrared scanning services to identify abnormal heat in electrical and mechanical systems to predict equipment trouble and potential revenue loss; create community newsletters; utility brochures and logos to promote community services and image. More than 60 cost of service, financial planning & rate design agreements are in place for electric, water, sewer, natural gas & refuse. 65 reports were completed for 29 participants as part of U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) reporting service. 41 utilities participated in NMPP's electric distribution services (EDS) program.
Provide grants paid through the Energy Research & Development Fund (ERDF) which allows individual NMPP members who contribute to the ERDF to apply for grants to help finance the member's energy-innovative project.
