Organizations Filed Purposes: THE MIDLANDS MENTORING PARTNERSHIP (MMP) IS A BACKBONE ORGANIZATION THAT SEEKS TO INCREASE THE NUMBER AND QUALITY OF MENTORING OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE FOR YOUTH.

MENTOR NEBRASKA HAS CONSISTENTLY SOUGHT TO BRING INNOVATION TO THE MENTORING SECTOR BY HELPING TO ESTABLISH "NEW MODELS" OF MENTORING THAT REACH AUDIENCES IN UNIQUE AND SUPPORTIVE WAYS. WE INTRODUCED A NEW EVIDENCED-BASED MENTORING MODEL, CALLED SUCCESS MENTORS, AND THE MODEL IS BEING USED TO SUPPORT MORE THAN 650 CHRONICALLY ABSENT YOUTH IN OMAHA PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND MORE THAN 300 YOUTH IN GRAND ISLAND. THIS WILL BE IMPLEMENTED IN EVERY OPS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WITHIN 2 YEARS.

EACH YEAR, THE MIDLANDS MENTORING PARTNERSHIP BRINGS TOGETHER HUNDREDS OF YOUTH PROVIDERS, MENTORING PROFESSIONALS, MENTORS, SCHOOL PERSONNEL, COMMUNITY/BUSINESS LEADERS AND PUBLIC OFFICIALS TO FOCUS ON BEST PRACTICES FOR YOUTH MENTORING. THE MENTORING SUMMIT INCLUDES A FULL DAY OF TRAINING SESSIONS AND A KEYNOTE PRESENTATION. LUNCHEON ATTENDANCE HAS IN RECENT YEARS RANGED BETWEEN 500-700. THE LUNCHEON FEATURES AWARDS PRESENTATIONS TO MENTOR OF THE YEAR AND BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AND ADVOCATE OF THE YEAR.

WE UNIFY VOICES TO STRENGTHEN THE MENTORING FIELD AND AS A RESULT OF NEBRASKA'S INITIATIVE AND LEADERSHIP IN 2019, NEBRASKA NOW HAS NEW LEGISLATION TO ALLOW NEBRASKA STATE EMPLOYEES TO HAVE FLEX TIME SO THEY CAN MENTOR DURING THE WORK DAY. LAST YEAR, WORKING WITH OUR PEERS FROM ACROSS THE US, WE WERE ABLE TO ADVOCATE FOR AND WIN PASSAGE OF THE CHILD PROTECTION IMPROVEMENT ACT TO ALLOW UNIVERSAL FBI FINGERPRINT BACKGROUND CHECKS TO BE AVAILABLE TO ALL YOUTH-SERVING ORGANIZATIONS.
