Organizations Filed Purposes:
The mission is to provide excellent dance training, promote the art of dance through performance, and provide students the opportunity to advance through the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) and/or Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) testing program(s) and curriculum.
Omaha Academy of Ballet (OAB) provides instruction and training in classical ballet, pointe, creative movement, modern, jazz, and tap for ages three through adult to 300+ students each year with an annual performing opportunity at the Spring Dance Concert held in late May or early June of each year, which attracts over 1,500 community members. We create a unique education environment with the majority of our dance classes having a live piano accompaniment. Class sizes are kept low and class fees are affordable. Additionally, to remove financial barriers to a wide swath of the Omaha community, we provide scholarship and work-study options for students requesting financial assistance.
Omaha Dance Project (ODP) is our community engagement project. Each year area dancers audition for the opportunity to come together to perform and gain valuable experience in a community dance performance. OAB arranges for the choreographers, directors, performance venue, rehearsal space, and costumes. Performing opportunities are extremely important in the complete development of dance. Professional performing opportunities increases the dancers awareness of what it means to be a professional dancer.
Halsey Dance Camp-Each summer OAB arranges for a summer dance camp experience for dancers ages 10 through adult. This affordable intensive dance experience is held at the Halsey 4H camp allowing for the real camping experience. OAB arranges the teachers, choreographes, the camp, camp counselors, camp nurse, transportation to and from the camp, as well as scholarships for those who need financial assistance.
