"Omaha Performing Arts Presents" is the major presenting series of O-pa and includes performances of the highest quality by artists and ensembles at venues including the Orpheum Theater and the Holland Performing Arts Center. Performances span a wide variety of genres in seven series of performances: Broadway, Showcase, Dance, Jazz, Family, National Geographic Live, and 1200 Club at the Holland. In addition, O-pa presents free community performances, including Jazz on the Green. The "Omaha Performing Arts Presents" series continue to attract new performers and patrons to the Omaha community each season.
Omaha Performing Arts' mission includes enriching the community through education and community engagement activities and initiatives. In the past 14 years, more than 350,000 students and community members have participated in a variety of programs including Student Matinees, Master Classes, workshops and more. Omaha Performing Arts provides four Education and Community Engagement programs in conjunction with national partners: Disney Musicals in Schools, in which underserved elementary schools receive significant resources to produce an annual Disney KIDS musical; WeBop, an early-childhood jazz education program developed by Jazz at Lincoln Center for ages 2-5; Musical Explorers, a semester-long, curriculum-based music education program for grades K-2 produced in partnership with Carnegie Hall; and the Broadway League's National High School Musical Theatre Awards program, which provides top Nebraska High School Theatre Academy students the chance to train with Broadway professionals in NYC. The Nebraska High School Theatre Academy is designed to support, celebrate and advocate for musical theater education in Nebraska high schools. In addition to Nationals, the program offers Master Classes led by Broadway teaching artists, adjudication of high school musicals, performance and audition experiences, tickets to touring Broadway shows, distance learning opportunities and more to 7,000 students across Nebraska annually. Other educational offerings include Student Rush Club, which offers deeply discounted tickets to students. The Student Matinee Series features daytime performances by artists from around the globe. These K-12 school shows are designed present school subjects in an impactful way - through theater, dance and music. Other community engagement offerings include Arts Access, which provides organizations serving at-risk and low-income populations with free tickets to select performances. Talkbacks offer conversations with artists about the creative process before or after select performances. During Artist Residencies, artists and ensembles provide a series of workshops, lectures, performances and other educational programming to students and community members.
The Orpheum Theater and the Holland Performing Arts Center have hosted a variety of cultural, performing arts, and entertainment events in addition to the "Omaha Performing Arts Presents" series and national Broadway touring productions, including the Omaha Symphony, Opera Omaha, American Midwest Ballet, and national touring artists.
