Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE WCA IS A LEADER IN OMAHA WORKING WITH DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT VICTIMS AND THE CRITICAL NEEDS RESULTING FROM VIOLENCE. THE WCA PROVIDES VITAL SERVICES SUCH AS A CITYWIDE HOTLINE, ONE-ON-ONE CASE MANAGEMENT (ADVOCACY), FREE LEGAL SERVICES, THERAPY AND THERAPIST-LED SUPPORT GROUPS. THE WCA HAS A MULTI-FACETED APPROACH TO INTERVENE AND SERVE WOMEN AFFECTED BY VIOLENCE. BECAUSE LIFE CHANGES, WHETHER IT IS TRYING TO ESCAPE AN ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP, A DIVORCE, RECENTLY WIDOWED, OR NEEDING TO GET BACK INTO THE WORKFORCE, THE WCA ASSISTS WOMEN ON THEIR JOURNEY OF ACHIEVING PERSONAL WELL-BEING. OUR MISSION IS TO HELP WOMEN AND THEIR CHILDREN OUT OF THEIR IMMEDIATE CRISIS AND ASSIST THEM IN MAKING PERMANENT CHANGES IN THEIR LIVES. HELPING THEM STAY SAFE AND GROW STRONG.

THE WCA PRIORITIZES THE SAFETY OF VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE. WCA PROVIDES SERVICES TO VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND STALKING INCLUDING A 24-HOUR HOTLINE, SAFETY PLANNING, ASSISTANCE WITH PROTECTION ORDERS, EMERGENCY SHELTER, AND 24/7 IN-PERSON RESPONSE TO AREA HOSPITALS WHO ARE TREATING VICTIMS. WCA ALSO PROVIDES PROFESSIONAL SERVICES INCLUDING SHORT-TERM COUNSELING BY LICENSED CLINICIANS, SUPPORT GROUPS AND PRO-BONO LEGAL SERVICES RELATED TO FAMILY AND IMMIGRATION LAW.
ASSISTANCE IS ALSO PROVIDED TO HELP VICTIMS ATTAIN LONG TERM INDEPENDENCE. WCA PROVIDES LONGER TERM SERVICES TO HELP SURVIVORS REMOVE THE BARRIERS TO SELF-SUFFICIENCY INCLUDING ONE ON ONE CASE MANAGEMENT AND CLASSES THAT ADDRESS LIFE SKILLS, FINANCIAL LITERACY, JOB READINESS, RESUME WRITING AND INTERVIEW SKILLS.
VIOLENCE PREVENTION IS ANOTHER AREA OF FOCUS FOR THE WCA. WCA PREVENTION STAFF PROVIDE TRAINING ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND STALKING TO THE COMMUNITY. PREVENTION STAFF ALSO PROVIDE A STRUCTURED EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM FOR GRADE SCHOOL AGED GIRLS. ADDITIONALLY, CLASSES ARE ALSO PROVIDED TO PERPETRATORS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT AND STALKING THROUGH WCA'S BATTERER'S INTERVENTION PROGRAM.
