Organizations Filed Purposes:
TO HELP PEOPLE DEVELOP A HEALTHY SPIRIT, MIND, AND BODY THROUGH THE USE OF VOLUNTEERS AND PROFESSIONAL STAFF. THE YMCA USES CHRISTIAN PRINCIPLES TO DEVELOP AFFORDABLE PROGRAMS THAT STRENGTHEN AND ENRICH INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILY LIVES, AND BRING A DEEPER RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.
HEALTH AND WELL BEING PROGRAMS: THE YMCA PROVIDES INSTRUCTORS, EQUIPMENT, AND FACILITIES SO MEMBERS AND OTHERS CAN IMPROVE THEIR OWN HEALTH AND WELL BEING, EITHER ON THEIR OWN OR IN A GROUP SETTING, AND DEVELOP A HEALTHY SPIRIT, MIND, AND BODY. PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO BE APPROPRIATE FOR SENIORS, YOUTH, AND THOSE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS.AQUATICS: THE YMCA OPERATES A VARIETY OF POOLS FOR ITS MEMBERS AND GUESTS. CLASSES RANGE FROM INTRODUCING INFANTS TO WATER WITH THEIR PARENTS, TO HELPING SENIORS AND OTHERS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS IMPROVE MOVEMENT IN THE THERAPY POOL. WHEN CLASSES ARE NOT IN SESSION, THE POOL IS OPEN TO LAP SWIMMERS AND TO FAMILIES. YOUTH AND ADULT SWIM LESSONS AND WATER SAFETY PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.TRAILS WEST YMCA CAMP. THE YMCA OPERATES A CAMP ON THE BANKS OF THE NORTH PLATTE RIVER. SUMMER DAY CAMP AVERAGES 70 CAMPERS A DAY AND IS FOR YOUTH AGES 5-12. EACH DAY BEGINS WITH A CHAPEL SERVICE AND IS FILLED WITH ACTIVITIES THAT PROMOTE THE YMCA'S FOUR CORE VALUES: CARING, HONESTY, RESPECT, AND RESPONSIBILITY. ACTIVITIES INCLUDE SWIMMING, HIKING, CLIMBING WALL ROPES CHALLENGE COURSE, FIELD TRIPS, AND MORE. THE CAMP FACILITIES ARE ALSO AVAILABLE TO OTHER GROUPS SO THEY CAN CONDUCT THEIR OWN ACTIVITIES.THE YMCA OF SCOTTSBLUFF OFFERS MANY OTHER PROGRAMS FOR YOUTH AND ADULTS, ALL DESIGNED TO DEVELOP A HEALTHY SPIRIT, MIND, AND BODY. THE YMCA PRESCHOOL TEACHES CHRISTIAN VALUES AND SOCIAL SKILLS AS KIDS ARE PREPARED FOR KINDERGARTEN. OTHER PROGRAMS INCLUDE TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL SPORTS WHICH ARE TAUGHT TO KIDS IN A WIDE VARIETY OF PROGRAMS. SPORTSMANSHIP, TEAMWORK AND OTHER SKILLS ARE LEARNED IN THIS NON-THREATENING ENVIRONMENT.
