Organizations Filed Purposes:
To assist individuals and families in Douglas County who due to their adverse circumstances as a consequence of a community emergency or natural disaster require assistance within the scope and function of the Douglas County Community Emergency and Natural Disaster Relief Group. The organization was incorporated in June 2019 and received its 502 (C)(3) status in August 2019. An office and staff were established and work began in mid-December 2019.
The mission of the organization is to assist individual and families in Douglas County who, due to their adverse circumstances as a consequence of a community emergency or natural disaster, require assistance within the scope and function of the DCCENDR Group.
Assisting those displaced due to flooding of the Missouri and Elkhorn Rivers during the spring of 2019 including the clean-up, repair and reconstruction of homes in the affected areas in Douglas County and storage of furniture and other items. Because the organization only began its work in mid-December 2019, this fiscal year represents only 6 months rather than an entire year of operation. Most of the organizaation's work done in this past fiscal year was done by volunteer help in coordination with Kings Garden, Omaha Rapid Response and Habitat for Humanity. During that time a total of 129 homes were assisted and cleared with over 50 more active cases. There are still over 100 homes needing assistance.
