FOUNDED IN 1939 BY THE SISTERS OF SAINT DOMINIC, CALDWELL UNIVERSITY PROMOTES INTELLECTUAL, SPIRITUAL, AND AESTHETIC GROWTH TO A DIVERSE POPULATION AND WELCOMES ALL CULTURES AND FAITH TRADITIONS. INSPIRED BY ST. DOMINIC DE GUZMAN AND OUR CATHOLIC HERITAGE, WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF OUR STUDENTS AND PREPARE THEM THROUGH THE LIBERAL ARTS AND PROFESSIONAL STUDIES TO THINK CRITICALLY, PURSUE TRUTH, AND CONTRIBUTE TO A JUST SOCIETY.
THE EXEMPT PURPOSE IS TO PREPARE STUDENTS THROUGH THE LIBERAL ARTS AND PROFESSIONAL STUDIES TO THINK CRITICALLY, PURSUE TRUTH, AND CONTRIBUTE TO A JUST SOCIETY.
CALDWELL UNIVERSITY WAS FOUNDED IN 1939 BY THE SISTERS OF SAINT DOMINIC AND PROMOTES INTELLECTUAL, SPIRITUAL AND AESTHETIC GROWTH TO A DIVERSE POPULATION AND WELCOMES ALL CULTURES AND FAITH TRADITIONS. THE UNIVERSITY SERVES A DIVERSE BODY OF 1,709 UNDERGRADUATE AND 497 GRADUATE STUDENTS IN THE FALL 2019 TERM. 14 PERCENT OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS IDENTIFY AS BLACK OR AFRICAN AMERICAN, 26 PERCENT AS HISPANIC OF ANY RACE, 3 PERCENT AS ASIAN AND 1 PERCENT AS MULTIRACIAL. WOMEN COMPRISE 64 PERCENT OF THE UNIVERSITY'S UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS AND 78 PERCENT OF GRADUATE STUDENTS. ABOUT 12 PERCENT OF CALDWELL UNDERGRADUATES ARE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS REPRESENTING 33 COUNTRIES, INCLUDING A SIZEABLE GROUP OF STUDENTS FROM NEPAL. 613 STUDENTS RESIDE ON CAMPUS AS OF SEPTEMBER 2019, WHICH IS A 98 PERCENT RESIDENT HALL OCCUPANCY RATE. 82 PERCENT OF CALDWELL UNDERGRADUATES ARE FROM NEW JERSEY WITH ANOTHER 20 STATES AND TERRITORIES REPRESENTED. THE SHARE OF FIRST-TIME FRESHMEN THAT ARE FIRST GENERATION IS SIGNIFICANT. 55 PERCENT OF FIRST-TIME FULL-TIME FRESHMEN HAVE PARENTS DO NOT HAVE A BACHELOR'S DEGREE. 94 PERCENT OF UNDERGRADUATES ATTEND FULL-TIME WHILE 79 PERCENT OF GRADUATE STUDENTS ATTEND PART-TIME.A 13:1 STUDENT TO FACULTY RATIO HIGHLIGHTS THE INDIVIDUALIZED MENTORSHIP AND INSTRUCTION THAT CHARACTERIZE A CALDWELL EDUCATION. TO ENABLE ACCESS TO THE UNIVERSITY FOR ALL DESERVING STUDENTS, CALDWELL CONTRIBUTED OVER $28M OF TOTAL FINANCIAL AID FOR SCHOLARSHIPS, GRANTSAND OTHER AID. 99 PERCENT OF FIRST-TIME FULL-TIME FRESHMAN RECEIVE SOME TYPE OF FINANCIAL AID (FEDERAL, STATE, LOANS, INSTITUTIONAL AND/OR PRIVATE). STUDENTS CHOOSE CALDWELL BECAUSE OF NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED PROGRAMS; SMALL CLASS SIZES; LOW TUITION; GENEROUS FINANCIAL AID;SECURE AND BEAUTIFUL CAMPUS; EMPHASIS ON DEVELOPING GLOBAL CITIZENS; PERSONALIZED ATTENTION AND ADVISING; VIBRANT STUDENT CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES; CONVENIENT AND FLEXIBLE CLASS SCHEDULES; STRONG ACADEMIC SUPPORT SERVICES; AND A LOCATION IN ONE OF NEW JERSEY'S BEST TOWNS WITHCLOSE PROXIMITY TO NEW YORK CITY. CALDWELL'S MOST RECENT NURSING GRADUATES HAD A PASS RATE OF 92%, ON PAR WITH THE NATIONAL AND STATE AVERAGE PASS RATES. 95% OF REENT BACHELOR DEGREE EARNERS ARE WORKING OR ENROLLED IN FURTHER EDUCATION. CALDWELL OFFERS OVER 30 UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMS AND 30 GRADUATE DEGREE AND CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS, INCLUDING DOCTORAL PROGRAMS IN EDUCATION LEADERSHIP AND A DOCTORAL PROGRAM IN APPLIED BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS, THE FIRST IN NEW JERSEY. AN ONLINE MASTER'S IN HIGHER EDUCATION LAUNCHED IN 2016 AND A BS IN ESPORTS MANAGEMENT IN 2019. NEW ATHLETIC AND STUDENT LIFE PROGRAMS LAUNCHED RECENTLY INCLUDE MEN'SLACROSSE AND AN ESPORTS TEAM. CALDWELL WAS REACCREDITED IN 2015 BY THE MIDDLE STATES COMMISSION FOR HIGHER EDUCATION AND RECEIVED TWO COMMENDATIONS FROM THE COMMISSION FOR THE QUALITY OF ITS SELF-STUDY REPORT AND FOR THE INCLUSIVITY OF ITS PROCESS. SPECIALIZED ACCREDITATION FURTHER ATTESTS TO PROGRAM QUALITYAND VIGOR, PROVIDING GRADUATES WITH A DIFFERENTIATED CAREER CREDENTIAL AND ENABLING THEM TO STAND OUT COMPETITIVELY DURING HIRING AND ACCEPTANCE INTO ADVANCED DEGREE PROGRAMS. SPECIALIZED ACCREDITORS THAT HAVE AWARDED ACCREDITATION TO CALDWELL'S PROGRAMS INCLUDE THE ACCREDITATION COUNCIL FOR BUSINESS SCHOOLS AND PROGRAMS; COUNCIL FOR ACCREDITATION OF COUNSELING AND RELATED EDUCATION PROGRAMS; TEACHER EDUCATION ACCREDITATION COUNCIL; COMMISSION ON COLLEGIATE NURSING EDUCATION AND THE ASSOCIATION FOR BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS INTERNATIONAL.
