TO CONNECT DONORS TO ORGANIZATIONS, PROVIDE LEADERSHIP AND SUPPORT TO DONORS, COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS, LEADERS AND FOUNDATIONS TO ACHIEVE THE ART OF LASTING PHILANTHROPY.
SINCE 1979, THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF NEW JERSEY (CFNJ) HAS BEEN A TRUSTED PARTNER IN THE STATE WORKING WITH HUNDREDS OF FAMILIES, BUSINESSES, AND FOUNDATIONS TO TURN PRIVATE RESOURCES INTO CHARITABLE FUNDS THAT BENEFIT CAUSES AND COMMUNITIES. FROM CREATIVE PROJECTS THAT TACKLE CRITICAL SOCIETAL OR POLICY ISSUES TO SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS, CORPORATE PHILANTHROPY, LEGACY FUNDS AND DONOR ADVISED FUNDS, THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION MANAGES NEARLY EVERY KIND OF GIVING VEHICLE AND TAILORS SOLUTIONS TO MEET CRITICAL NEEDS. CFNJ MADE 7,370 INDIVIDUAL GRANTS IN 2019 TOTALING $62.5 MILLION. CFNJ CURRENTLY STEWARDS MORE THAN $500 MILLION IN CHARITABLE ASSETS, MAKING GRANTS TO NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS IN LINE WITH THE ADVICE OF ACTIVE FUNDHOLDERS OR PHILANTHROPIC GOALS OF THOSE WHO LEAVE BEQUESTS.
THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF NEW JERSEY (CFNJ) SPONSORS SEVERAL SPECIAL PROJECTS EACH YEAR, OFTEN INITIATED TO ADDRESS AN URGENT OR REGION-SPECIFIC NEED. IN 2019, CFNJ CONTINUED ITS PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NATIONAL NONPROFIT FAIR FOOD NETWORK TO BRING ITS DOUBLE UP FOOD BUCKS HEALTHY FOOD INCENTIVE PROGRAM TO NEW JERSEY. IN 25 OTHER STATES ALREADY, DOUBLE UP FOOD BUCKS MATCHES THE VALUE OF SNAP DOLLARS SPENT ON FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES, HELPING LOW-INCOME FAMILIES BRING HOME MORE NUTRITIOUS FOODS. SNAP STANDS FOR THE SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, FORMERLY KNOWN AS FOOD STAMPS. THE DOUBLE UP FOOD BUCKS PROGRAM, ORIGINALLY SET TO RUN SUMMERS ONLY IS NOW SPONSORED YEAR-ROUND AT FOUR LOCAL SHOPRITE GROCERY STORES, WHICH HAVE SEEN, ON AVERAGE, FIVE PERCENT INCREASES IN PRODUCE PURCHASES MADE BY SNAP SHOPPERS. CFNJ CONTINUES TO BUILD ON THE WORK OF A LEGAL FELLOW WHO REPRESENTS UNACCOMPANIED IMMIGRANT CHILDREN AND TRAINS PRO BONO COUNSEL IN IMPOSSIBLY COMPLEX (AND OFTEN ADVERSARIAL) JUVENILE STATUS PROCEEDINGS. CFNJ IS ALSO NOW PART OF A BROADER FUNDER COLLABORATIVE OF LOCAL AND NATIONAL FUNDERS THAT UNDERWRITES A CONSORTIUM OF LEGAL AND IMMIGRANTS' RIGHTS ADVOCATES WORKING TO STABILIZE THE STATUS OF IMMIGRANT CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES IN NEW JERSEY. CFNJ GRANTED A TOTAL OF $1,268,183 IN SCHOLARSHIPS TO 279 STUDENTS FOR THE FALL 2019 TERM. THE SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS COME FROM FUNDS CFNJ MANAGES ON BEHALF OF PHILANTHROPIC FAMILIES AND COMPANIES.CFNJ CONTINUES TO MANAGE AND PROMOTE A FIELD TRIP ENDOWMENT, FIELD TRIP NEW JERSEY, THAT ENABLES SCHOOL CHILDREN IN LOW-INCOME DISTRICTS ACROSS NEW JERSEY ACCESS TO THE ARTS, HISTORICAL LANDMARKS, NATURE PRESERVES, AND COLLEGE CAMPUSES.
OTHER PROGRAM SERVICE EXPENSES INCLUDING SALARIES, EMPLOYEE BENEFITS AND VARIOUS OTHER EXPENSES TO CARRY OUT THE FOUNDATION'S MISSION AND PROGRAMS.
