THROUGH ITS ACTIVITIES DESTINATION IMAGINATION PROVIDES FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF CREATIVE, SOCIAL, ARTISTIC, AND PSYCHOLOGICAL ABILITY BY ORGANIZING AND MANAGING EDUCATIONAL AND HUMAN SERVICE PROGRAMS. DESTINATION IMAGINATION GRANTS USE OF ITS PROGRAM TO MEMBERS WHO ARE EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS, STATE AFFILIATIONS, COMMUNITY GROUPS, OR FOREIGN AFFILIATES LOCATED WORLDWIDE.
GLOBAL FINALS (GF) IS AN ANNUAL EVENT. IN 2019, GF WAS HELD IN KANSAS CITY, MO FROM MAY 22 TO 25. GF IS THE LARGEST EVENT HELD BY DESTINATION IMAGINATION. GF IS A COMPETITION FOR THE WINNERS OF OUR AFFILIATES' LOCAL, STATE, AND REGIONAL CHALLENGE COMPETITIONS FROM AROUND THE WORLD. THESE TOP TEAMS COMPETE IN OUR EDUCATIONAL CHALLENGE PROGRAMS TO DETERMINE TOP TEAMS. 1186 TEAMS PARTICIPATED IN GLOBAL FINALS 2019 FOR A TOTAL OF 6,735 TEAM MEMBERS PARTICIPATING. 1,822 TEAM MANAGERS AND 8812 SPECTATORS WERE INVOLVED OR ATTENDED THE EVENT. TOTAL OF 17,428 PEOPLE WERE AT THE EVENT.
CHALLENGE PROGRAMS: DESTINATION IMAGINATION DEVELOPS EDUCATIONAL CHALLENGE PROGRAMS FOR USE BY OUR AFFILIATES. THESE CHALLENGES FOCUS ON CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING IN AREAS SUCH AS ENGINEERING, SCIENCE, COMMUNITY SERVICE, IMPROVISATION, AND FINE ARTS. THESE CHALLENGE PROGRAMS ARE ACCESSED BY PURCHASING TEAM NUMBERS FROM DESTINATION IMAGINATION, INC. FOR THE 2019 EDUCATIONAL CHALLENGE PROGRAM 17,634 TEAM NUMBERS WERE SOLD, WITH APPROXIMATELY 88,000 CHILDREN PARTICIPATING IN THESE EDUCATIONAL CHALLENGE PROGRAMS.
