Organizations Filed Purposes: CNJG PROVIDES A ROBUST DOCKET OF SUBSTANTIVE AND HIGHLY ENGAGING PROGRAMMING, TRAINING AND NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE FUNDING COMMUNITY. USING THESE TECHNIQUES WE SUPPORT OUR MEMBERS, STRENGTHENING THEIR CAPACITY TO ADDRESS NJ'S MOST DIFFICULT PROBLEMS.

THE CNJG EXISTS TO STRENGTHEN AND PROMOTE EFFECTIVE PHILANTHROPY THROUGHOUT NEW JERSEY.

PROGRAMMINGCNJG BOOSTS THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE STATE'S PHILANTHROPIC SECTOR BY PROVIDING MEMBERS AND OTHER GRANTMAKERS WITH THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, RESOURCES AND SERVICES; OPPORTUNITIES TO COLLABORATE, AND CONNECTIONS TO STATE AND NATIONAL NETWORKS THAT BUILD THEIR CAPACITY TO CARRY OUT THEIR MISSIONS MORE EFFECTIVELY. IN 2020, CNJG PIVOTED ITS FOCUS ON THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND THE NEED FOR RAPID STRATEGIC PHILANTHROPIC RESPONSE TO THE DISASTER. IN ADDITION, CNJG PLACED THE ISSUE OF RACIAL EQUITY ON THE TABLE AS A MAJOR CALL FOR ACTION FOR THE ASSOCIATION. DURING THIS PERIOD OF REMOTE WORK, THE CNJG TEAM PRODUCED AN UNPRECEDENTED NUMBER OF PROGRAMMING OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE MEMBERSHIP. THESE WERE: 16 COVID-19 FUNDERS BRIEFINGS; 42 AFFINITY GROUP PROGRAMS, INCLUDING 20 NEWARK PROGRAMS ON COVID-19 RESPONSE AND OTHER PRESSING ISSUES IN THE CITY AND 22 ADDITIONAL PLACE-BASED AND ISSUE-FOCUSED AFFINITY GROUP PROGRAMS (EQUITY, ELECTION DEBRIEF, ISSUES PRE-PANDEMIC); 1 CONVERSATION WITH THE CABINET MEETING; 4 SKILL-BUIILDING WEBINARS; 6 OTHER (FOUNDATIONS ON THE HILL, NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION, OTHER BRIEFINGS); 40 PARTNER PROGRAMS (INCLUDES PROGRAMS HOSTED BY PARTNER PHILANTHROPY-SERVING ORGANIZATIONS, THAT WE OFFER THROUGH THE FORUM NETWORK.

NEWARK PHILANTHROPIC LIAISONA PROJECT OF CNJG, THE NEWARK PHILANTHROPIC LIAISON IS A FORMAL PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THE CITY OF NEWARK AND THE COUNCIL, PROVIDING A BRIDGE BETWEEN NEWARK FUNDERS, CNJG MEMBERS, AND NEWARK'S MAYOR OFFICE AND MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT. THE LIAISON INITIATIVE IS EXCLUSIVELY SUPPORTED BY SPECIAL PROJECT GRANTS FROM CNJG MEMBERS. THE LIAISON WORKS DIRECTLY WITH NEWARK'S MAYOR ON ISSUES THAT IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR NEWARK RESIDENTS.

SPECIAL EVENTSDUE TO THE PANDEMIC LOCK-DOWN, ALL IN PERSON CONFERENCES SCHEDULED FOR 2020 WERE POSTPONED FOR 2021. INSTEAD, CNJG OFFERED PANDEMIC RELATED PROGRAMS PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED AS VIRTUAL EVENTS AND PROVIDED IT GRATIS TO ITS MEMBERSHIP.
