Organizations Filed Purposes: WE ARE A CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO BUILDING A HEALTHY SPIRIT, MIND, AND BODY. PART OF A WORLD-WIDE MOVEMENT, WE PUT CHRISTIAN PRINCIPLES INTO PRACTICE THROUGH PROGRAMS THAT PROMOTE GOOD HEALTH, STRONG FAMILIES, YOUTH LEADERSHIP, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT, AND INTERNATIONAL UNDERSTANDING. YMCAS ARE OPEN TO MEN, WOMEN, AND CHILDREN OF ALL AGES, INCOMES, ABILITIES, RACES, AND RELIGIONS.

THE WORK OF THE HAMILTON AREA YMCA FOCUSES ON THREE SPECIFIC AREAS OF NEED FOR OUR COMMUNITY: YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, HEALTHY LIVING AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. WORKING WITH A VARIETY OF PARTNERS ACROSS CENTRAL NEW JERSEY, OUR Y PROVIDES ESSENTIAL PROGRAMS AND SERVICES THAT BUILD STRONG, CONFIDENT KIDS; HEALTHY, ACTIVE ADULTS; AND THRIVING COMMUNITIES. THOUGH WE ARE ROOTED IN CHRISTIAN PRINCIPLES, WE WELCOME ALL WHO WISH TO FURTHER ENGAGE IN OUR MISSION IN AN INCLUSIVE, WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT.

HEALTHY LIVING. THE YMCA PROVIDES MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY WITH TOOLS AND RESOURCES TO BUILD A HEALTHY SPIRIT, MIND AND BODY. THROUGH 128 WEEKLY GROUP EXERCISE CLASSES, 40 AQUATICS CLASSES, 44 ACTIVE OLDER ADULT PROGRAMS, 8 HEALTHY LIVING PROGRAMS, AS WELL AS MULTIPLE SMALL GROUP AND ONE-ON-ONE TRAINING PROGRAMS, WE ARE IMPROVING THE OVERALL HEALTH OF OUR COMMUNITY. THE CREATION OF HEALTHY LIVING PROGRAMS ALLOWS THE Y TO ADDRESS FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS WITH SPECIFIC HEALTH NEEDS - THOSE LIVING WITH CHRONIC DISEASES LIKE CANCER, PARKINSON'S, MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS, PRE-DIABETES, AND CHILDHOOD OBESITY. BY OFFERING HEALTHY LIVING PROGRAMS IN TANDEM WITH TRADITIONAL FITNESS PROGRAMS, THE Y'S DEMONSTRATES ITS COMMITMENT TO ENSURING THE IMPACT OF ITS MISSION ON HEALTHY LIVING IS FELT THROUGHOUT OUR COMMUNITY. IN 2019, OVER 700 COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS POWERED OUR WORK, AND APPROXIMATELY $281,000 (CONTRIBUTED INCOME) WAS RAISED TO HELP FUND PRIORITY PROGRAMS.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT. THROUGH Y PROGRAMMING, OVER 5,000 CHILDREN IN OUR COMMUNITY ARE LEARNING NEW SKILLS, BUILDING SELF-CONFIDENCE AND GAINING INDEPENDENCE. THESE ARE VALUABLE LESSONS THAT WILL BE VITAL BUILDING BLOCKS FOR THEIR FUTURE. IN ADDITION, THESE CHILDREN ARE PRACTICING POSITIVE BEHAVIORS, EXPLORING THEIR OWN UNIQUE TALENTS, AND BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS WITH ADULT MENTORS. IN 2019, WE SERVED MORE THAN 1,300 CHILDREN IN OUR BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS AT 13 ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, AND, AS AN OFFSHOOT, WE PILOTED A RECESS PROGRAM THAT RESULTED IN REDUCTION OF REPORTED PLAYGROUND BULLYING, 44 CHILDREN ARE ENROLLED IN OUR PRE-SCHOOL, AND 553 YOUTH ATTENDED OUR SUMMER CAMP, WHERE WE PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR THOSE WHO NEED IT. AS PART OF A NO COST INITIATIVE, 50 MIDDLE SCHOOLERS WERE BUSED TO OUR FACILITY EVERY DAY AFTER SCHOOL, TO KEEP THEM SAFE AND ENGAGED. WE AVERAGED 90 PRE-TEENS AT OUR MONTHLY "SPOT" SATURDAY NIGHT SOCIAL EVENT. WE OFFERED 45 PROGRAMS TO AREA YOUTH THAT INTRODUCED THEM TO THE ARTS, SPORTS, GYMNASTICS, AND DANCE, AND WE PREPARED CHILDREN AS YOUNG AS SIX MONTHS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN PRESCHOOL THROUGH A VARIETY OF ENRICHMENT AND SOCIAL PROGRAMS.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. FOR THE LAST 69 YEARS, THE HAMILTON AREA YMCA HAS BEEN LISTENING AND RESPONDING TO OUR COMMUNITY. WE CONNECT TO MORE THAN 12,000 PEOPLE OF ALL AGES AND BACKGROUNDS TO BRIDGE GAPS IN COMMUNITY NEEDS AND BUILD A STRONGER COMMUNITY BY ENCOURAGING PHILANTHROPY AND VOLUNTEERISM. THE HAMILTON AREA YMCA CONTINUES TO BE A FORCE FOR POSITIVE CHANGE IN OUR COMMUNITY - WE BELIEVE THAT EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN, GROW AND THRIVE THROUGH PROGRAMS THAT ADDRESS SPECIFIC HEALTH OR DEVELOPMENTAL NEEDS SUCH AS: SKOR (SPECIAL KIDS ORGANIZED RECREATION), DELAY THE DISEASE PARKINSON'S PREVENTION, THRIVE CANCER WELLNESS, ACT! YOUTH WEIGHT MANAGEMENT, ONESTEP MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS PROGRAM, DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM, HEALTHY WAYS ADULT WEIGHT MANAGEMENT. WE KNOW THAT A PERSON LIVING WITH CANCER, MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS, OR PARKINSON'S, IS OFTEN LIVING WITH MEDICAL BILLS, CO-PAYS, AND LOST DAYS OF WORK. THAT'S WHY WE ARE COMMITTED TO OFFERING PROGRAMS LIKE THRIVE, ONE STEP AND OTHERS AT LOW- OR NO-COST TO THOSE WHO NEED THEM.
