Organizations Filed Purposes: The organization is organized exclusively for charitable, educational and scientific purposes and is dedicated to promoting awareness of and control of the spread of Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases (TBD) and their complications.

Lyme Disease Association, Inc. (LDA) raises funds for research, education, patient support. LDA partnered to establish the Columbia University Lyme & Tick-Borne Disease Research Center, provides research grants, LymeAid 4 Kids, physician conferences, public presentations.

The LDA's educational program efforts are multi-pronged. Publications and conferences often result from these grants. LDA provides free speakers for programs in various portions of the US for the general public, corporations, schools, government officials, health care providers; printed prevention materials are handed out at educational programs and orderable online for postage costs and mailed throughout the US, boxes of brochures are shipped free to LDA's LDAnet umbrella groups, a loose partnership of approximately 45 organizations throughout the US for which LDA just hosted the annual leader meeting in Philadelphia. https:// www.facebook.com/ LymeDiseaseAssociation, reports on current updates on Lyme, and LDA publishes a monthly newsletter and has an online blog. The LDA answers non-medical questions online & maintains an information line.

In 2019, the LDA held its 20th scientific conference, the LDA/Columbia Scientific Conference, which awarded 30 14.25 AMA Category 1 credits (CME) from the joint conference provider, Columbia University, to CME registered attendees. Attendees at the 2 day conference included health care providers, researchers, government officials, advocates and the public.They heard the science and clinical presentations from a faculty of cutting-edge researchers and physicians, which included speakers from across the United States. A reception enables researchers and clinicians to network with each other and conference attendees. USB drives with conference presentations were provided to attendees. LDA organized and ran the conference. Thirty scholarships were provided to medical students, new health care providers, health department officials and some advocates.

Grants: since 1992 LDA has provided 118 research grants, including researchers awarded grants totaling $90,096 in 2019 to University of South Dakota, Colorado State University and Dr. William Padula (CT). Publications in peer-reviewed journals enable the field of Lyme disease to move forward - other scientists build upon the foundation of previous research - and LDA has been acknowledged as a research funder in more than 53 peer-reviewed scientific journal articles.LDA also awards scientific educational grants to entities including hospitals, universities and Lyme organizations. It has awarded 146 scientific education grants to date, including $12,900 for 2019 grants. Total of the research and education grants in 2019 was $102,996.
