THE ORGANIZATION WAS FORMED TO PROMOTE SOCIAL AWARENESS WHICH SHALL INCLUDE CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES TO BRING ABOUT CIVIC BETTERMENT AND SOCIAL IMPROVEMENT TO INNER CITY MINORITY GROUPS AND TO UPLIFT AND CREATE POSITIVE ALTERNATIVES FOR THE YOUTH OF JERSEY CITY THROUGH PROGRAMS DESIGNED TO ENLIGHTEN PARTICIPANTS AND TEACH THE IMPORTANCE OF SOLID ACADEMICS, TEAMWORK, AND SPORTSMANSHIP.THE TEAM WALKER PROVIDES SAFE AND CONSTRUCTIVE ALTERNATIVES TO THE NEGATIVE INFLUENCES THAT PLAGUE INNER CITY YOUTH. THROUGH A STRUCTURED ACADEMIC AND RECREATIONAL ENVIRONMENT, THE CHILDREN LEARN HOW TO FOCUS ON TEAMWORK, RESPONSIBILITY, PERSISTENCE AND UNITY. THE STAFF KNOWS THAT IF CHILDREN ARE PROVIDED POSITIVE ROLE MODELS, IN COMBINATION WITH A GAINED SENSE OF ACCOMPLISHMENT AND HEIGHTENED AWARENESS OF THEIR CAPABILITIES, THEY WILL SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVE THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE.

PROVIDING ACTIVITIES THAT STRENGTHEN THE PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT OF INNER CITY YOUTH AND DEVELOPING SPORTS ACTIVITIES FOR CITY YOUTH FREE OF CHARGE.THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) PROGRAM HELPED TO DEVELOP A VACANT LAND AND BUILD A COMMUNITY FACILITY THAT NOW SERVES AS A COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND RECREATION CENTER. IT PROVIDES ACADEMIC AND ATHLETIC PROGRAMS INCLUDING LIFE SKILLS MENTORING, HEALTH AWARENESS AND HOMEWORK TUTORING FOR STUDENTS IN GRADES KINDERGARTEN THROUGH TENTH GRADE.THE 21 CENTURY PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO SUPPLEMENT THE EDUCATION OF STUDENTS IN GRADES 4-12, WHO ATTEND SCHOOLS ELIGIBLE FOR TITLE 1 SCHOOL WIDE PROGRAMS OR SCHOOLS WHERE A MINIMUM OF 30% THE STUDENTS ARE FROM LOW INCOME FAMILIES. THE PROGRAM AIMS TO ASSIST STUDENTS IN ATTAINING THE SKILLS NECESSARY TO MEET NEW JERSEY'S CORE CURRICULUM CONTENT STANDARDS AND COMMON CORE STANDARDS. THEREFORE, ALL 21ST CCLC PROGRAMS MUST PROVIDE STUDENTS WHO PARTICIPATE WITH ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES THAT COMPLEMENT THE REGULAR SCHOOL DAY.
