HUBERT'S PROVIDED CARE/SHELTERING TO CLOSE TO 9,500 ANIMALS, WITH A LIVE RELEASE RATE OF 95%, THROUGH ITS FOUR SHELTERS LOCATED IN MORRIS (3) AND SOMERSET (1) COUNTIES AND ITS NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED "SISTER SHELTER WAYSTATION PROGRAM," A NETWORK OF 85+ SOURCE AND DESTINATION ORGANIZATIONS OPERATING UNDER ONE SET OF PROTOCOLS TO CONNECT AREAS OF NEED WITH THOSE WHO HAVE CAPACITY AND AVAILABLE ADOPTIVE HOMES FOR AT RISK DOGS. ST. HUBERT'S SERVES AS THE OPERATOR AND HUB FOR THE LIFESAVING PROGRAM WHICH RELOCATES FOR ADOPTION UP THE EASTERN SEABOARD APPROXIMATELY 4,000 DOGS ANNUALLY OF ALL AGES, MANY WITH MEDICAL NEEDS, WHOSE CHANCES FOR PLACEMENT IN THEIR SOURCE COMMUNITIES ARE VERY LIMITED. ST. HUBERT'S AND DESTINATION PARTNERS ALSO PROVIDE FUNDING TO THE SOURCE PARTNERS TO MAKE SPAY/NEUTER ACCESSIBLE AND AFFORDABLE TO THOSE COMMUNITIES, ADDRESSING THE ROOT OF THE POPULATION DISPARITY IN THOSE AREAS OF THE COUNTRY. DOGS, CATS, SMALL FURRY PETS AND BIRDS ARE OFFERED FOR ADOPTION AT ITS SHELTERS AND OFF-SITE VENUES 363 DAYS A YEAR THROUGH AN OPEN FRIENDLY PROCESS. ALL DOGS, CATS AND RABBITS ARE SPAYED/NEUTERED BY ST. HUBERT'S PRIOR TO ADOPTION AND DOGS/CATS ARE AGE APPROPRIATELY VACCINATED, MICROCHIPPED AND TREATED AS REQUIRED FOR ANY MEDICAL CONDITIONS. ST. HUBERT'S EMPLOYS A FULL-TIME TEAM OF TRAINERS/BEHAVIOR EXPERTS TO PROVIDE THE UTMOST NURTURING, ENRICHMENT AND GUIDANCE AIMED AT ASSESSING THE DOGS' BASIC BEHAVIOR PATTERNS AND ADDRESSING ISSUES TO GIVE EACH THE BEST POSSIBLE CHANCE FOR SUCCESSFUL PLACEMENT IN LOVING HOMES. THE MEDICAL AND SPAY/NEUTER CLINIC TEAMS ALSO ENSURE THAT PETS REMAIN PHYSICALLY HEALTHY AS THEY AWAIT ADOPTION. NJ STATE CERTIFIED ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICERS ARE ON DUTY 24/7 365 DAYS A YEAR IN CONTRACTED COMMUNITIES IN SEVERAL COUNTIES TO PROVIDE ANIMAL CONTROL AND RESCUE RESPONSE. THEY ALSO ASSIST THE ANIMAL CARE STAFF DURING DISASTER INTAKES AS THE NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS RELY ON ST. HUBERT'S EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE IN HIGH VOLUME INTAKE/CARE DURING TIMES OF CRISIS. ST. HUBERT'S ALSO PROVIDES LOW-COST VOUCHERS FOR RESIDENTS TO PROVIDE SPAY/NEUTER/VACCINATION TO OUTDOOR COMMUNITY CATS FOR WHOM THEY PROVIDE CARE.
TRAINING AND BEHAVIOR CENTER - THE TRAINING & BEHAVIOR CENTER LOCATED ON THE MADISON CAMPUS OFFERS DOG TRAINING CLASSES 7 DAYS A WEEK, FROM PUPPY KINDERGARTEN THROUGH ADVANCED AND SPECIALTY CLASSES LIKE "FEISTY FIDOS" WHICH ADDRESS IMPROVING/MODIFYING A VARIETY OF BEHAVIORS, AND EVEN SPORTS CLASSES TO PROVIDE FUN AND ENRICHMENT FOR DOGS AND PET PARENTS. IN ADDITION, PRIVATE SESSIONS ARE OFFERED FOR PROBLEM SOLVING ASSISTANCE WITH CERTIFIED TRAINERS/BEHAVIOR COUNSELORS. IN 2019 ALMOST 4,000 DOGS GRADUATED FROM 595 COURSES (6 TO 8 WEEKS IN DURATION EACH) AND 195 PRIVATE BEHAVIOR CON SULTATIONS TOOK PLACE. PRIVATE SESSIONS ARE ALSO MADE AVAILABLE TO OTHER NONPROFIT SHELTER/RESCUE ORGANIZATIONS AT NO CHARGE TO ASSIST THEM WITH DOGS IN THEIR CARE.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT - ST. HUBERT'S IS AN ADVOCATE FOR THE HUMANE TREATMENT OF ALL ANIMALS AND IS ACTIVE IN A NUMBER OF WAYS IN THE COMMUNITY FOR THE BENEFIT OF PETS, WILDLIFE AND FARMED ANIMALS.ST. HUBERT'S EMPLOYS A FULL-TIME TEACHING CERTIFIED HUMANE EDUCATOR WHO IN 2018 REACHED 6,200+ CHILDREN AT BOTH ELEMENTARY AND HIGH SCHOOL LEVELS THROUGH SCHOOL AND FIELD TRIP PRESENTATIONS, SUMMER DAY CAMP PROGRAMS AND EDUCATIONAL BIRTHDAY PARTIES HELD AT THE SHELTER. YOUTH TASK FORCE AND YOUTH AMBASSADORS PROGRAMS WERE INTRODUCED TO FURTHER ENGAGE STUDENTS IN MEANINGFUL VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES TO BENEFIT ANIMALS. EDUCATIONAL SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS ARE HELD THROUGHOUT THE YEAR FOR BOTH REGIONAL ANIMAL WELFARE PROFESSIONALS AND THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE TO BOTH ELEVATE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF WELFARE AND TO INCREASE AWARENESS AMONG COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND PROMOTE HUMANE TREATMENT OF ALL LIVING CREATURES WITH WHOM WE SHARE THE ENVIRONMENT.
