Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Metuchen Downtown Alliance is a volunteer-based, non-profit downtown management corporation dedicated to the promotion and revitalization of the designated Metuchen business district.
The Corporation is organized and shall be operated to: (i) manage and leadin promoting the economic vitality of the District, (ii) promote Full Membergrowth and revitalization, (iii) enhance public awareness of the Full Memberbusinesses, (iv) facilitate cooperation among Full Members, Metuchen residents, Metuchen municipal government and other public institutions,and (v) foster good will between the Full Members and the general public.The Corporation shall be non-partisan and non-sectarian, and shall operateindependently of, but in cooperation with, other public and private entities.and blocks in the initial district.
Marketing: Increased earned and unearned media coverage for the Downtown District and businesses. Digital media strategy resulted in growth on platforms between 18.5% and 29.9% year over year. Retail promotions attracted people downtown and made cash registers ring for businesses. These included: Downtown Loves Moms, Pre-Prom, Downtown Loves Dads, Movies Under the Stars, Downtown Rumble, Haunted Downtown, Small Business Saturday, and New Year Celebration on the Plaza.
Placemaking: Improved streets, sidewalks and storefronts through providing design assistance and offering matching grants to businesses and owners for making improvements. Also, coordinated planting and maintenance for 50 downtown planters. Commissioned several public art projects.
