THE MONTCLAIR COOPERATIVE SCHOOL IS A COMMUNITY OF STUDENTS, TEACHERS, AND PARENTS WHO ARE DEDICATED TO CREATING A DIVERSE AND NURTURING ENVIRONMENT WHERE CHILDREN FLOURISH INTELLECTUALLY AND WHERE THEY DEVELOP EXCEPTIONAL SOCIAL SKILLS ALONG WITH A DEEP SENSE OF COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITY.
THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH THIS CORPORATION WAS FORMED IS TO OPERATE AND MAINTAIN ONE OR MORE NON PROFIT, NON SECTARIAN COOPERATIVE EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, NURSERY SCHOOLS, KINDERGARTENS, ELEMENTARY AND JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS.
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM: THE MONTCLAIR COOPERATIVE SCHOOL IS AN INDEPENDENT, PRIVATE, NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION WITH APPROXIMATELY 125 STUDENTS IN GRADES EARLY AGES-8. THE TUITION REVENUES ENABLE US TO ACCOMPLISH OUR PRIMARY PURPOSE OF CREATING A RICH AND REWARDING ENVIRONMENT FOR OUR CHILDREN. $367,658 IN FINANCIAL AID WAS AWARDED TO ASSIST FAMILIES WHO DEMONSTRATE FINANCIAL NEED.
THE MONTCLAIR COOPERATIVE SCHOOL INCORPORATES DAY & OVERNIGHT TRIPS INTO THE CURRICULUM FOR EACH GRADE. DAY TRIPS INCLUDE CULTURAL, EDUCATIONAL & SEASONAL PROGRAMS & EVENTS. OVERNIGHT TRIPS INCLUDE TRIPS TO CAMP FAIRVIEW, KROKA EXPEDITIONS IN VERMONT IN WHICH CHILDREN EXPLORE A WILDERNESS ADVENTURE, EXTENDED COMMUNITY SERVICE BASED TRIPS TO THE SOUTHWEST WITHIN THE U.S. TO PLACES OF HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE. FAMILIES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF THE TRIPS & THEY ARE BILLED DIRECTLY FOR EXPENSES RELATED TO THESE TRIPS. STUDENTS ON FINANCIAL AID ARE ELIGIBLE FOR ASSISTANCE WITH OVERNIGHTS.
THE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM OPERATES FROM 3:15 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. EVERY DAY THAT THE SCHOOL IS IN SESSION WHITH THE EXCEPTION OF THOSE SPECIFIED ON THE SCHOOL CALENDAR. ON HALF DAYS, THE PROGRAM OPERATES FROM 12:30 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. THE CHILDREN GATHER IN THE MULTI-PURPOSE ROOM WHICH IS SET UP WITH BLOCKS, ARTS AND CRAFTS, BOARD GAMES AND PUZZLES. JEWELRY MAKING, COOKING AND DRAMATIC PLAY ARE ALSO OFFERED IN THE PROGRAM. WHEN THE WEATHER PERMITS, THE CHILDREN PLAY OUTSIDE. SPECIAL ACTIVITIES SUCH AS ICE SKATING ARE OFFERED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THE MONTHLY COST FOR FULL TIME USE OF THE PROGRAM IS $300 AND THE PER DIEM COST IS $20.
