MONTCLAIR FILMS EXHIBITION PROGRAMS TYPICALLY INCLUDE ITS ANNUAL FESTIVAL FEATURING 150+ FILM SCREENINGS, REACHING 28,000 PATRONS OVER 10 DAYS, AS WELL AS HUNDREDS OF ADDITIONAL SCREENINGS OF DOCUMENTARY AND INDEPENDENT NEW AND CLASSIC FILMS SHOWN REGULARLY, IN CINEMA505, A 65-SEAT MICRO-CINEMA IN THE HOME AND HEADQUARTERS FOR THE ORGANIZATION THAT ATTRACTS AN ADDITIONAL 10,000 FILM ENTHUSIASTS EACH YEAR. IN PRIOR YEARS, THE ANNUAL FESTIVAL HAD BEEN HELD IN THE SPRING. DUE TO COVID-19, IT WAS MOVED TO THE FALL IN OCTOBER 2020 FOLLOWING THIS FISCAL YEAR END. THE SUMMER OUTDOORS FILM SERIES WAS OFFERED IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT WITH THE NEW ITERATION OF CARPOOL DRIVE-IN MOVIES. A NEW YEAR-ROUND VIRTUAL CINEMA WAS ALSO INTRODUCED.

MONTCLAIR FILMS EDUCATION PROGRAMS INCLUDE: YEAR-ROUND WORKSHOPS, CLASSES AND SEMINARS ABOUT THE CRAFT OF FILMMAKING, STORYTELLING, AND NEW MEDIA; CAREER DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES; FILMMAKING COMPETITION FOR YOUNG FILMMAKERS; SUMMER FILMMAKING ACADEMY CLASSES; FILM CLUB FOR SPECIAL NEEDS AUDIENCES; AND FILMMAKER IN THE SCHOOLS PROGRAMS THAT SERVE A GROWING NUMBER OF MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND ADULTS. THE ORGANIZATION OFFERS SCHOLARSHIPS TO THOSE IN NEED TO ENSURE THESE OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE TO ALL. THIS YEAR THESE PROGRAMS WERE SHIFTED TO A VIRTUAL PLATFORM.

MONTCLAIR FILMS FORUMS INCLUDE THE STORYTELLER SERIES OF CONVERSATIONS WITH FILM AND TELEVISION INDUSTRY INSIDERS; PANEL DISCUSSIONS; MASTER CLASSES; STORYTELLING AND IMPROV PROGRAMS INVITING THE AUDIENCE TO PARTICIPATE; AND OTHER PROGRAMS THAT USE FILM AS A SPRINGBOARD TO EXPLORE TOPICS AND ENCOURAGE CONVERSATIONS THAT ARE IMPORTANT TO COMMUNITY PARTNERS. WHILE THE ORGANIZATION WAS ABLE TO OFFER ITS CELEBRITY CONVERSATION IN DECEMBER 2019, MANY OTHER PROGRAMS SHIFTED TO A VIRTUAL PLATFORM DURING THE YEAR.
