IS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT EDUCATIONAL SERVICE ORGANIZATION COMMITTED TO BUILDING THE QUALITY OF EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR CHILDREN, YOUTH, AND FAMILIES IN UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES THROUGH WORK WITH PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOLS, SCHOOL DISTRICTS, EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS, AND AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM PROVIDERS. THE ORGANIZATION FOCUSES ON CAPACITY-BUILDING THROUGH PROFESSIONAL LEARNING, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT, SUPPORTING TOOLS, AND SERVICES. THE ORGANIZATION RECEIVES ITS SUPPORT FROM VARIOUS SOURCES INCLUDING FOUNDATION GRANT PROGRAMS, GOVERNMENT GRANTS, PERFORMANCE CONTRACTS, PRODUCT SALES, CONTRIBUTIONS FROM FOUNDATIONS, AND CONFERENCE FEES.
THE FOUNDATION IS DEDICATED TO IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION FOR OUR NATION'S CHILDREN BY STRENGTHENING THE SKILLS OF EDUCATORS.
THE CENTER FOR AFTERSCHOOL AND EXPANDED LEARNING - IT PROVIDED PROFESSIONAL LEARNING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO APPROXIMATELY 1,700 AFTERSCHOOL AND IN SCHOOL EDUCATORS FACE-TO-FACE, AND DURING OUR ANNUAL CONFERENCE. PROVIDED ONLINE WEBINAR TRAININGS TO AN ESTIMATED 475 PARTICIPANTS FROM 38 STATES ACROSS THE NATION, THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, PUERTO RICO, AND CANADA, SERVING MORE THAN 218,000 CHILDREN AND YOUTH. THIS YEAR, THE CENTER HAS DISTRIBUTED 298 PUBLICATIONS, TOOLS, AND RELATED MATERIALS TO AFTERSCHOOL PRACTITIONERS NATIONWIDE. ADDITIONALLY, THE CENTER OPERATED 19 AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS INVOLVING 5,000 ELEMENTARY THROUGH 12TH GRADE STUDENTS IN PHILADELPHIA SCHOOLS.
SCHOOL SERVICES - OUR OFFICE OF SCHOOL SERVICES SUPPORTED OVER 15 CHARTER AND DISTRICT SCHOOLS SERVING OVER 10,000 STUDENTS. STAFF PROVIDED TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TO REGIONAL SCHOOLS; AND BUSINESS SERVICES ASSISTANCE FOR 2 AREA CHARTERS SCHOOLS, SUPPORTING MORE THAN 2,000 STUDENTS. ADDITIONALLY, SCHOOL SERVICES HAS REACHED 55,000 TEACHERS, SCHOOL LEADERS AND AFTERSCHOOL EDUCATORS IN 2019 ALONE.
