LAKELAND HILLS FAMILY YMCA IS A NON-PROFIT CHARITY WITH ITS MISSION TO PUT CHRISTIAN PRINCIPLES INTO PRACTICE THROUGH PROGRAMS AND SERVICES THAT PROMOTE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, HEALTHY LIVING AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ALL. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED BY PROVIDING DIVERSE RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES, SOCIAL SERVICES AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS IN A WHOLESOME ENVIRONMENT. OUR PROGRAMS EMPHASIZE PERSONAL GROWTH, FOSTER A POSITIVE SENSE OF SELF WORTH AND ENCOURAGE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. THE Y'S FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM GUARANTEES THAT EVERYONE CAN AFFORD THE Y AS IT PROVIDES OVER $278,700 IN FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO OVER 437 INDIVIDUALS ENSURING FULL ACCESS TO OUR PROGRAMS AND MEMBERSHIP.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT - OUR Y IS COMMITTED TO NURTURING THE POTENTIAL OF EVERY CHILD AND TEEN. THE Y'S EARLY CHILDHOOD LEARNING CENTER PROVIDES A NURTURING ENVIRONMENT FOR OVER 120 CHILDREN AGED 2.5 TO 5 WITH 32 RECEIVING OVER $56,000 IN FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. IN ADDITION, THE AFTER SCHOOL CHILD CARE PROGRAM (KIDS CLUB) HAS SITES IN BOONTON TOWNSHIP, BUTLER, DENVILLE AND LINCOLN PARK SERVING OVER 330 STUDENTS WHERE THE FOCUS IS ON DEVELOPING THE WHOLE CHILD FOSTERING EACH CHILD'S COGNITIVE, SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT THROUGH OPPORTUNITIES AND EXPERIENCES THAT HIGHLIGHT ACHIEVEMENT IN RELATIONSHIPS IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IN EXCESS OF $40,000 TO 52 CHILDREN IS PROVIDED FOR THIS AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM. THE SUMMER DAY CAMP IS A RICH LEARNING ENVIRONMENT THAT HAS A PRESENCE OF SUPPORTIVE RELATIONSHIPS, MEANINGFUL OPPORTUNITIES, AND CHALLENGING ACTIVITIES IN A PHYSICALLY AND EMOTIONALLY SAFE ENVIRONMENT. CAMP NURTURES CURIOSITY AND INVITES CREATIVITY IN ALL CHILDREN. OVER 800 CHILDREN ATTEND SUMMER CAMP AND $90,000 IN FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IS PROVIDED TO 78 CHILDREN TO EXPERIENCE THIS FUN AND INSTRUCTIONAL OPPORTUNITY. NUMEROUS WRITTEN PARENTAL SURVEYS AND ANECDOTAL STORIES VALIDATE THE QUALITY OF THE DAY CAMP. THE TEEN LEADERS CLUB PROVIDES YOUNGSTERS IN GRADES 6 THROUGH 12 THE ABILITY TO DEVELOP THEIR LEADERSHIP SKILLS AS THEY PARTICIPATE IN VARIOUS COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES. THEY HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK ON COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS, ATTEND TEEN LEADERSHIP WEEKENDS, LEARN LEADERSHIP SKILLS, AND PARTICIPATE IN SPECIAL EVENTS. THE 7TH GRADE INITIATIVE PROVIDES 192 BOYS AND GIRLS IN THE 7TH GRADE WITH A FOUNDATION FOR HEALTHY LIVING THROUGH FITNESS AND NUTRITION. ALL 7TH GRADERS WHO ARE 12 YEARS OF AGE ARE ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE A FREE FACILITY ACCESS PASS THAT ALLOWS THEM TO ACCESS THE POOL, GYMNASIUM AND TEEN TRAINING AREA IN THE HEALTH AND FITNESS CENTER.
HEALTHY LIVING - THE Y IS COMMITTED TO IMPROVING AMERICA'S HEALTH AND WELL BEING ONE COMMUNITY AT A TIME. WE BRING FAMILIES CLOSER TOGETHER, ENCOURAGE GOOD HEALTH AND FOSTER CONNECTIONS THROUGH FITNESS, SPORTS, FUN AND SHARED INTERESTS. AS A RESULT, OVER 9,000 PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY ARE RECEIVING THE SUPPORT, GUIDANCE AND RESOURCES THEY NEED TO ACHIEVE GREATER HEALTH IN SPIRIT, MIND AND BODY. ARTHRITIS, AQUACIZE AND CARDIO CARE MAINTENANCE PROGRAMS PROVIDE SPECIAL SUPPORT FOR OUR WITH CHRONIC DISEASE AND OBESITY. PARTNERSHIPS WITH OTHER NON-PROFITS AND FOR- PROFITS HAVE RESULTED IN HEALTH AND WELLNESS SEMINARS DESIGNED TO ELEVATE THE AWARENESS FOR BETTER LIFE STYLES. IN ADDITION, OVER 30 SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS ARE PROVIDED AQUATIC AND FITNESS PROGRAMMING. OVER $299,000 WAS PROVIDED IN FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IN MEMBERSHIP AND PROGRAMMING TO OVER 430 INDIVIDUALS.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY - OUR Y BELIEVES IN GIVING BACK AND SUPPORTING OUR NEIGHBORS. WE HAVE BEEN LISTENING AND RESPONDING TO OUR COMMUNITY'S MOST CRITICAL SOCIAL NEEDS FOR MORE THAN 100 YEARS. OUR ANNUAL GIVE A KID THE Y CAMPAIGN PROVIDES FUNDS TO DELIVER TRAINING, RESOURCES AND SUPPORT THAT EMPOWER OUR NEIGHBORS TO EFFECT CHANGE, BRIDGE GAPS AND OVERCOME OBSTACLES. OUR OLDER ADULT MEMBERS BENEFIT FROM A MONTHLY BREAKFAST, HOLIDAY CONCERT, SENIOR PICNIC, TECHNOLOGY SEMINARS TO ASSIST THEM IN MANAGING THEIR IPADS AND SMART PHONES, AND WELLNESS SEMINARS ALL AT NO COST. FOOD AND CLOTHING DRIVES, EYEGLASS COLLECTIONS AND THE HOLIDAY ANGEL GIFT TREE FOR CHILDREN ARE CONSISTENT WITH THE Y'S COMMITMENT TO THE TOGETHERHOOD INITIATIVE, AS WELL AS THE Y'S VOLUNTEER SUPPORT OF A HABITAT FOR HUMANITY BUILD. IN SUMMARY, A TOTAL OF OVER 330 VOLUNTEERS ASSIST THE Y TO PROVIDE ACTIVITIES THAT STRENGTHEN OUR COMMUNITY AND PAVE THE WAY FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS.
