THE GRAY CHARTER SCHOOL'S MISSION IS TO ESTABLISH A CHARACTER SCHOOL TO SERVE AS A NEIGHBORHOOD RESOURCE AND AS A MODEL FOR OTHER SIMILAR SCHOOLS. THE CHARTER SCHOOL IS COMMITTED TO ACHIEVING THE NEW JERSEY COMMON CORE STANDARDS AND PRODUCING HIGH ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT BY ALL STUDENTS.
THE GRAY CHARTER SCHOOL PROVIDES A FULL RANGE OF EDUCATIONAL SERVICES APPROPRIATE TO GRADES K-8. THESE SERVICES INCLUDE REGULAR, AS WELL AS SPECIFIC INSTRUCTION IN BASIC SKILLS. THE STUDENTS ARE AFFORDED EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF VARIOUS INSTRUCTIONAL IDEOLOGIES THAT ARE ALIGNED WITH THE NEW JERSEY COMMON CORE STANDARDS. IN ADDITION, THE COMPREHENSIVE CURRICULUM IS COMPLEMENTED WITH THE TEACHING OF MUSIC AND VIOLIN TUTORIAL OPPORTUNITIES ARE PROVIDED ON A DAILY BASIS FOR INDIVIDUALS AND SMALL GROUPS. CLEAR, STUDENT-CENTERED GOALS FOCUSED ON STAFF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT HAS RESULTED IN SIGNIFICANT GAINS IN ACHIEVEMENT DURING THE SCHOOL ACADEMIC YEAR. COMMUNICATIONS TO PARENTS ARE OFFERED THROUGH REGULAR PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES, THAT PARENT ACADEMY PROGRAM AND MONTHLY MEETINGS.
THE CHARTER SCHOOL PROVIDES A FULL RANGE OF EDUCATIONAL SERVICES APPROPRIATE TO GRADE LEVELS PRE-K THROUGH GRADE 8. THIS INCLUDES REGULAR STUDENT ENROLLMENT AND CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL EDUCATION NEEDS. IT'S MAJOR INITIATIVES ARE BASED ON A SCHOOL-WIDE ASSESSMENT BY PARENTS AND STAFF IN ORDER FOR OUR VILLAGE TO CONTINUE TO ACHIEVE HIGH LEVELS OF EXCELLENCE - 1) IMPROVE STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT; 2)BUILD ORGANIZATIONAL CAPACITY; AND 3)BROADEN THE BASE OF COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS.
THE CHARTER SCHOOL PROVIDES NUTRITIONALLY BALANCED, LOW COST OR FREE MEALS TO CHILDREN EACH SCHOOL DAY THROUGH ITS BREAKFAST AND LUNCH PROGRAMS. THE PROGRAMS ARE FEDERALLY AND STATE ASSISTED.
THE CHARTER SCHOOL PARTICIPATES IN THE NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM WAS ENACTED BY CONGRESS TO REAUTHORIZE THE ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION ACT WITH MAJOR FOCUS ON PROVIDING ALL CHILDREN WITH FAIR, EQUAL AND SIGNIFICANT OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE A HIGH QUALITY EDUCATION THROUGH ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES.
