Organizations Filed Purposes: TO PROMOTE HEALTH, HOPE AND RECOVERY AMONG ALL PEOPLE BY FOSTERING A COMMUNITY IN WHICH INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES THRIVE.

FOR OVER 45 YEARS, THE CENTER FOR PREVENTION AND COUNSELING HAS SERVED THE RESIDENTS OF SUSSEX COUNTY WITH QUALITY PROGRAMS AND SERVICES THAT CHANGE LIVES. WITHIN THE LAST FIVE YEARS, THE CENTERS PREVENTION WORK HAS EXPANDED TO INCLUDE EIGHT COUNTIES WITHIN THE NORTHERN REGION OF NEW JERSEY. THE AGENCY HELPS YOUTH TO GAIN THE SKILLS THEY NEED TO MAKE WISE CHOICES, HELPS PARENTS TO CREATE STRONG FAMILIES AND HELPS TO BUILD COMMUNITIES THAT SUPPORT HEALTHY LIFESTYLES. THE REACH OF THE AGENCY ENCOMPASSES ALL AGES AND ECONOMIC GROUPS AND THE RESULTS OF THE AGENCY'S EFFORTS ARE POWERFUL AND EXTENSIVE, AS LIVES ARE CHANGED FOR THE BETTER. THE CENTER FOR PREVENTION AND COUNSELING IS THE BACKBONE ORGANIZATION FOR SEVERAL COLLABORATIVE VENTURES, PROVIDING GUIDANCE TO EACH AS HIGH LEVELS OF COLLECTIVE IMPACT ARE SOUGHT. THE AGENCY'S WORK NOW INCLUDES COMMUNITY HEALTH INITIATIVES, COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND EDUCATION, YOUTH LEADERSHIP TRAINING, MENTORING, VIOLENCE PREVENTION PROGRAMS, SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER PREVENTION AND COUNSELING SERVICES AND RECOVERY SUPPORT SERVICES AND PROGRAMS. THE AGENCY HAS EXTENSIVE INVOLVEMENT IN THE COMMUNITY PARTNERING WITH COMMUNITY MEMBERS, FAITH-BASED ORGANIZATIONS, NON-PROFITS, MEDICAL/HEALTH PROFESSIONALS, SOCIAL SERVICE INSTITUTIONS, EDUCATIONAL ENTITIES, COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDERS, BUSINESSES, AND THE GOVERNMENT TO PROVIDE QUALITY, IMPACTFUL PROGRAMS. THE CENTER FOR PREVENTION AND COUNSELING CONTINUES TO GROW AS A NON-PROFIT AGENCY HAVING A STAFF THAT BOASTS OVER 61 DEDICATED PROFESSIONALS WORKING TIRELESSLY AND HAPPILY TO SERVE THE PUBLIC GOOD. GOALS ARE ACCOMPLISHED BY IMPLEMENTING RESEARCH-BASED, SKILL-BUILDING PROGRAMS, ADVOCATING FOR POLICIES PROMOTING WELLNESS, AND BUILDING PARTNERSHIPS WITH ENTITIES TO CREATE SUSTAINABLE CHANGE. OUTCOMES AND COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE HAVE BEEN RECOGNIZED BY ENTITIES SUCH AS THE CENTER FOR NONPROFITS, SUSSEX COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, COMMUNITY ANTI-DRUG COALITIONS OF AMERICA AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE & MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES ADMINISTRATION. STRATEGIES INCLUDE USING PROVEN PREVENTION APPROACHES IN ALL EDUCATION PROGRAMS, PROVIDING CLIENT CENTERED COUNSELING, NETWORKING WITH OTHER SERVICE PROVIDERS, BEING INVOLVED IN THE SUSSEX COUNTY COMMUNITY AND AROUND THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY BY MAINTAINING ACTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIPS, PROVIDING ON-GOING STAFF EDUCATION AND MAINTAINING A FULL RANGE OF LOW COST AND NO COST SERVICES THROUGH GRANT AND FOUNDATION FUNDING. WHETHER THROUGH NEW FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES, NEW COLLABORATIONS OR NEW PROGRAMS CREATED TO RESPOND TO THE VITAL NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY, THE CENTER FOR PREVENTION AND COUNSELING IS DEDICATED TO CREATING A CULTURE WHERE ALL CAN THRIVE WHICH REMAINS AS CONSTANT AS IT WAS IN 1974, WHEN THE AGENCY BEGAN ITS WORK.
