PROJECT REWARDS: (REINFORCING EDUCATION WITH ACTIVITIES, RECREATION AND DEVELOPMENTAL SUPPORTS), A COLLABORATIVE, EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM THAT ACTIVELY ENGAGES COLLEGE TRACK NEW ORLEANS SCHOLARS AWARDING MORE THAN $128,000 IN SCHOLARSHIP SUPPORT; PROVIDED FINAL EXAM STUDY BASKETS TO MATRICULATING COLLEGE FRESHMAN; FUNDED OUT-OF-STATE COLLEGE TOURS, AND PROVIDED CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AND CRITICAL NETWORKING EXPOSURE AND WORKSHOPS TO HELP THEM PROGRESS FORWARD IN THEIR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. IN 2019, 6 SCHOLARS WERE RECOGNIZED AS MALCOLM JENKINS SCHOLARS AND RECEIVED A $1500.00 SCHOLARSHIP FROM THE MALCOLM JENKINS FOUNDATION. SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AWARDED BY THE FOUNDATION ANNUALLY TO HELP DESERVING STUDENTS, IN PURSUIT OF HIGHER LEARNING, WITH THE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO ATTEND AN ACCREDITED COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY. SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AWARDED IN THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES: HIGH ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT, OVERCOMING ADVERSITY, MOST IMPROVED SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS RECEIVE THE HONOR OF BEING NAMED "MALCOLM JENKINS SCHOLARS"
GET READY FEST: ON JUNE 7 AND JULY 22 2019 TMJF HELD IT SIGNATURE GET READY FEST COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAM 'PROVIDING 800 FAMILIES RESIDING IN VULNERABLE COMMUNITIES OF CAMDEN, NJ AND PHILADELPHIA, PA WITH ACCESS TO A WIDE ARRAY OF ESSENTIAL RESOURCES INCLUDING 25 POUNDS OF SHELF-STABLE FOOD, ESSENTIAL DIGNITY AND HYGIENE ITEMS AND HEALTH AND WELLNESS PRODUCTS TO HELP THEM THRIVE. YOUNG DRAGONS SUMMER STEAM: A FREE SIX-WEEK SUMMER DAY CAMP, DEVELOPED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH EXCITE CENTER AT DREXEL UNIVERSITY. THAT SERVES RISING 5TH-8TH GRADE MIDDLE SCHOOL SCHOLARS LIVING IN THE WEST PHILADELPHIA PROMISE ZONE NEIGHBORHOOD, WHICH APPLIES A CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE AND RELEVANT LENS TO SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, ARTS/ATHLETICS, AND MATHEMATICS (STEAM) LEARNING. THE PROGRAM INVITES YOUNG PEOPLE TO INCORPORATE THEIR OWN STORIES AND IDENTITIES INTO THEIR LEARNING AND TO DEVELOP APPROACHES AND BUILD SKILLS TO AMPLIFY THEIR VOICES, IN BOTH FAMILIAR AND NEW CONTEXTS.
