JFCS strengthens individuals and families by empowering people to care for themselves and others. This is accomplished through a wide range of high quality social services and programs designed to assist families with many of life's toughest challenges.
Senior Services - JFCS offers a wide array of programs for older adults and their families including information & referral, aging in place support, and programs for Holocaust Survivors. We support 26 Holocaust Survivors through care management and a monthly Caf Europa. Of the total number, 18 who receive care management were connected with a total of 14,400 home care hours. In addition, we supported 27 Senior Outreach Service (SOS) clients, low-income seniors who need resources and care, by connecting them with home care, personal emergency response systems, and meal and/or grocery delivery. 125 Secure@Home members received 2,750 check in calls, a significant increase due to the pandemic when monthly calls became weekly check-ins to keep updated on our members needs.
Counseling JFCS Counseling Services offer affordable, accessible, confidential treatment to individuals of all ages and backgrounds in both English and Spanish. Licensed clinical social workers help those who experience personal or relationship problems, or the impact of social or environmental crises. In FY20, we provided 3,221 hours of therapy services and completed 122 new client assessments.
Community & Youth Programs In FY20, the two teen programs, JCYF and Gesher LeKesher, had a combined 198 participants. 515 volunteers provided over 3,300 hours of services including 10 shop & stock trips for our pantry. In the spring, we introduced new volunteer opportunities including Friendly Phone Calls with volunteers making weekly social check-ins to isolated seniors, and a Senior Shopper program to assist elderly clients who were unable or uncomfortable going into grocery stores.
