WE STRIVE TO BREAK THE CYCLE OF POVERTY FOR THOSE WE SERVE AND GUIDE OUR COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN NEED TO SELF-SUFFICIENCY AND HEALTHIER, MORE PRODUCTIVE LIFESTYLES. LUNCH BREAK FREELY PROVIDES LIFE'S BASIC NECESSITIES - FOOD,CLOTHING AND FELLOWSHIP FOR OUR COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN NEED. OUR MISSION IS TO ALLEVIATE HUNGER AND LEAD THOSE WE SERVE TO SELF-SUFFICIENCY AND HEALTHIER LIFESTYLES. WE SERVE EVERYONE, WITH COMPASSION AND DIGNITY.
HOT MEALS & CULINARY ARTSLIFE SKILLS CENTER - SINCE THE OPENING OF THE THE LIFE SKILLS CENTER ON MARCH 1, 2019 WE HAVE PLACED 29 PARTICIPANTS IN JOBS. WE HAVE A STEADY GROUP OF 38 INDIVIDUALS IN OUR ESL CLASSES WEEKLY. OUR COACHES HAVE HELD CLOSE TO 450 COACHING SESSIONS. PROVIDED 150 REFERRALS TO OTHER AGENCIES. PROVIDED 3 TRAINING SESSIONS FOR OUR COACHES. OUR SUCCESS ALSO GOES BEYOND THE CLASSROOM AS WE HAVE ASSISTED OUR PARTICIPANTS TO OBTAIN USED CARS DONATED BY A LOCAL CAR DEALER, WE'VE FUNDED CAR REPAIRS, ASSISTED WITH COLLEGE TUITION, AND ASSIST IN SEEKING HOUSING. ONE OF OUR VERY AMBITIOUS PARTICIPANTS COMPLETED HER CITIZENSHIP AND BECAME A CITIZEN, BECAME EMPLOYED AND PURCHASED A HOME - ALL WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE COACH AND STAFF AT THE CENTER.SOUP KITCHEN AND MEAL SERVICES - OUR DINING ROOM IS THE HEART OF LUNCH BREAK WHERE MEALS ARE SERVED AND FELLOWSHIP IS THE NORM. IT'S A WARM ENVIRONMENT AND ALL ARE WELCOME AND NO ONE IS TURNED AWAY. THE KITCHEN PROVIDES MEALS IN HOUSE AND ALSO SENDS MEALS TO VARIOUS LOCATIONS. IN 2019 WE SERVED 72,273 MEALS THAT CONSISTED OF CONTINENTAL BREAKFASTS AND HOT LUNCHES MONDAY - FRIDAY, HOT BREAKFAST AND BAGGED LUNCHES ARE PROVIDED BY SEVERAL LOCAL CONGREGATIONS ON SATURDAYS. OUR COMMUNITY DINNERS ON FRIDAY EVENINGS OFFER POP UP ENTERTAINMENT, WORKSHOPS AND DOOR PRIZES. HOMEBOUND MEALS ARE DELIVERED BY VOLUNTEERS 6-DAYS A WEEK AND WE SERVE DINNER ON THANKSGIVING DAY. A FESTIVE CHRISTMAS BRUNCH IS SERVED ON CHRISTMAS MORNING ALONG WITH TOYS, CAROLLING AND LOVE. OUR ANNUAL SUMMER COMMUNITY PICNIC IS ALWAYS A WINNER WITH FOOD AND FUN. WE SEND HOT FOOD TO FAMILIES THAT ARE IN TRANSIENT HOUSING EVERY MONDAY WITH THE SUPPORT OF VARIOUS CHURCHES. SUMMER LUNCHES ARE PROVIDED TO A LOCAL SCHOOL FOR THEIR SUMMER SCHOOL PROGRAM. THE LOCAL BOYS AND GIRLS' CLUB HAS A STANDING RESERVATION EVERY FOURTH THURSDAY FOR A SIT DOWN DINNER AS THEY CELEBRATE A MONTHLY BIRTHDAY BASH FOR THEIR YOUTH.
CLIENT CHOICE FOOD PANTRY THE CLIENT CHOICE PANTRY DISTRIBUTED 51,415 BAGS OF GROCERY IN 2019! WE SERVED 2,350 FAMILIES. OUR PANTRY IS SET UP TO ALLOW PANTRY CLIENTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO "SHOP" FOR THEIR FAMILY BY ACCESSING THE GROCERIES AND TOILETRIES THEMSELVES WHILE BEING ACCOMPANIED WITH A VOLUNTEER. OUR CLIENTS LOVE HAVING THIS OPTION AS OPPOSE TO PRE-BAGGED GROCERIES. THE CLIENT CHOICE PANTRY IS IN LINE WITH OUR MISSION OF SERVING EVERYONE WITH COMPASSION AND DIGNITY. GROCERIES CONSIST OF NON-PERRISHABLES, A WIDE SELECTION OF PRODUCE, MEATS, DAIRY, BREADS, DESERTS AND TOILETRIES. WE PROVIDE SPECIAL BAGS FOR THANKSGIVING, CHRISTMAS AND EASTER. WE PURCHASE FOODS FROM VARIOUS VENDORS INCLUDING THE LOCAL FOOD PANTRY, WE ALSO RECEIVE THE STATE AND FEDERAL ALLOCATIONS FROM THE LOCAL FOOD PANTRY. DONATED FOOD FROM FOOD DRIVES AND LOCAL GROCERY STORES TOTALLED 1,212,942 LBS.
OTHER PROGRAMS INCLUDELUNCH BREAK CLOTHING PROGRAM - CONSIST OF CLARA'S CLOSET, OUTREACH PROGRAM AND SUIT UP. IT'S ESSENTIAL TO HAVE THE PROPER ATTIRE FOR EVERY OCASSION AND WE ASSIST FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS FROM INFANTS TO ADULTS, MEN AND WOMEN RATHER THEY ARE IN NEED OF CLOTHING FOR SCHOOL, WEDDINGS, PROMS OR JOB INTERVIEWS. IN 2019 WE PROVIDED 91 YOUTH WITH PROM ATTIRE, INCLUDING ACCESSESSORIES. 746 INDIVIDUALS RECEIVED INTERVIEW CLOTHING THROUGH THE SUIT UP PROGRAM, 14,189 BAGS OF CLOTHING WAS PROVIDED TO FAMILIES THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY AND BEYOND. OUR OUTREACH PROGRAM CONSIST OF OVER 30 COMMUNITY PARTNERS THAT HAVE DISTRIBUTED 35,929 BAGS OF CLOTHING, COATS AND SHOES PROVIDED BY LUNCH BREAK FOR DISTRIBUTION THROUGHOUT THE STATE.BACKPACK PROGRAM - DURING OUR COMMUNITY PICNIC WE HOLD OUR BACKPACK DISTRIBUTION FOR INCOME CHALLENGED FAMILIES THAT HAVE PRE-REGISTERED THEIR CHILDREN. WE DISTRIBURED 250 BACKPACKS FILLED WITH SCHOOL SUPPLIES IN 2019.LOOK WHO'S COOKING - OUR TUITION-FREE COOKING CLASSES OFFERED TO YOUNG LOCAL BOYS AND GIRLS 5-12 YEARS OLD TO LEARN THE FUNDAMENTALS OF CULINARY SERVICES WITH A MASTER CHEF HIRED BY LUNCH BREAK. THE CLASSES ARE HELD ON WEDNESDAY AFTERNOONS AT LUNCH BREAK. THE YOUTH PREPARE AN ENTREE THAT IS SERVED THE NEXT DAY TO OUR CLIENTS FOR LUNCH IN THE DINING ROOM. WE GRADUATED 189 CHILDREN FROM THE PROGRAM IN 2019.WORLD CHANGERS - THE WORLD CHANGERS ARE A YOUTH, MISSION BASED GROUP THAT COME FROM THE MID-WEST REPRESENTING VARIOUS DENOMINATIONS AND ARE SPONSORED BY NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP, NJ. WE PROVIDE MEALS TO THE YOUTH FOR THE ONE WEEK THEY ARE HERE TO PERFORM VARIOUS CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE JOBS FOR SENIORS AND OTHER NEIGHBORS IN NEED. IN 2019, WE PROVIDED 650 MEALS.HOLIDAY TOY PROGRAM - THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES THE OPPORTUNITY FOR FAMILIES THAT HAVE PRE-REGISTERED THEIR CHILDREN WITH LUNCH BREAK THE EXPERIENCE OF "SHOPPING" FOR GIFTS IN THE BEAUIFUL TOWER HILL FELLOWSHIP HALL. LUNCH BREAK STAFF WORK WITH DONORS TO SOLICIT THE GIFTS AND THE TOWER HILL VOLUNTEERS SET UP THE GIFT STATIONS AND THE FAMILIES SHOP BASED ON THE SIZE AND AGE OF THEIR CHILDREN. WE WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE 960 CHILDREN TOYS AND A MEMORABLE HOLIDAY IN 2019.A WOMEN'S WORTH - THIS IS A SUPPORT GROUP FOR LADIES THAT WAS BORN OUT OF A MOTHER'S DAY BREAKFAST FOR LADIES THAT WERE IDENTIFIED BY STAFF THAT NEEDED FELLOWSHIP. THIS PROGRAM HAS LIFTED UP THE SPIRITS OF THESE LADIES BY OFFERING FRIENDSHIP AND THOUGHT PROVOKING PROGRAMING THAT INCLUDES JOURNALING, YOGA, OUTINGS, FINANCIAL EDUCATION, HEALTH AND WELLNESS SUPPORT, NUTRITION DISCUSSIONS, WORKSHOPS AND GUEST SPEAKERS. THEY MEET TWO SATURDAY MORNINGS EACH MONTH AND SHARE A MEAL TOGETHER AND THE ATTENDANCE RANGES FROM 5 - 20 AT ANY GIVEN SESSION.SENIOR HOLIDAY LUNCHEON - EVERY YEAR, LUNCH BREAK MAKES A POINT OF MAKING SURE THE SENIORS WE SERVE ARE NOT FORGOTTEN DURING THE HOLIDAYS. OUR SENIOR LUNCHEON IS VERY POPULAR. WE PROVIDE A VERY FESTIVE ENVIRONMENT IN THE DINING ROOM, A HOT MEAL, A FASHION SHOW - THAT MANY OF OUR SENIORS ACTUALLY PARTICIPATE IN WEARING CLOTHING FROM THE SUIT UP PROGRAM. THEY LEAVE SINGING AND LOOKING FORWARD FOR NEXT YEAR'S EVENT AND WITH BAGS OF GIFTS! IN 2019, OUR LUNCHEON SERVED 97 SENIORS.WARMING CENTER - LUNCH BREAK COLLABORATES WITH THE LOCAL WARMING CENTER FOR MEN THAT IS RUN BY THE PILGRIM BAPTIST CHURCH AND THE SOUL KITCHEN IN RED BANK. WE PROVIDE MEALS TO THE MEN IN THE SHELTER WHEN THE SOUL KITCHEN IS CLOSED. WE PROVIDED 160 MEALS TO THE MEN IN 2019.LUNCH BREAK'S SOCIAL SERVICES NETWORK - THIS IS A PARTNERSHIP WITH COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS, RESOURCES, AND PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS WHOSE GOAL IS TO ENSURE ACCESS TO HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICES. TWICE MONTHLY, LUNCH BREAK PROVIDES AN OPEN INVITATION TO OUR PARTNERING AGENCIES TO PROVIDE THEIR SERVICES, INTAKE AND OUTREACH TO OUR CLIENTS IN THE DINING ROOM. MANY AGENCIES SUCH AS AFFORDABLE HOUSING ALLIANCE, PARKER FAMILY HEALTH CENTER, VNA, LEGAL AID AND MANY OTHERS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT OUR CLIENTS ON-SITE AT LUNCH BREAK.RED BANK REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL COMMUNITY PEER TUTORING PROGRAM - LUNCH BREAK OPENS OUR DOORS EVERY TUESDAY AND THURSDAY EVENING 10 MONTHS OF THE YEAR TO THE SCHOOL'S FRESHMAN THAT ATTEND FOR TUTORING ASSISTANCE THAT SUPPORTS ACADEMIC SUCCESS WITH THE SUPPORT OF A HIRED TUTOR. WE DO NOT CHARGE FOR THE USE OF OUR SPACE.SENIOR MOBILE PANTRY - EVERY THURSDAY STAFF FILLS UP OUR LUNCH BREAK VAN WITH FRESH PRODUCE TO DELIVER TO ONE OF 5 SENIOR COMPLEXES FOR DISTRIBUTION TO OUR MOST FRAGILE AND NEEDY NEIGHBORS. OUR SENIORS ARE SO GRATEFUL TO RECEIVE THE FRESH PRODUCE AND REGULARLY STATE HOW THEY ARE SO APPRECIATIVE BECAUSE THEY WOULD NOT HAVE THE PRODUCE IF IT WERE NOT FOR LUNCH BREAK BECAUSE THEY CANNOT AFFORD TO MAKE THAT PURCHASE. IN 2019 WE MADE 959 DELIVERIES TO SENIORS. VOLUNTEER PROGRAM - ALL OF THIS IS POSSIBLE THROUGH HE DEDICATION OF 2,707 VOLUNTEERS WHO DONATED 48,152 HOURS IN 2019 TO HELP IN VARIOUS CAPACITIES TO HELP RUN OUR PROGRAMS AND SERVICES. WE COULD NOT PROVIDE ALL THE MANY SERVICES AND PROGRAMS WITHOUT THE SUPPORT OF OUR VOLUNTEERS WHO ARE FULL OF PASSION FOR OUR MISSION, HARDWORKING AND COMMITTED.
