TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF PERSONS WITH INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AND THEIR FAMILIES, THROUGH ADVOCACY, SERVICES AND SUPPORTS, COLLABORATION WITH OTHERS.
RESIDENTIAL SERVICES ARE PROVIDED TO APPROXIMATELY 85 PERSONS WITH INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES WHO RESIDE IN ONE OF TEN GROUP HOMES, SUPERVISED APARTMENTS OR SUPPORTED LIVING APARTMENTS IN THE COUNTY. PERSONS RESIDING IN GROUP HOMES RECEIVE THE MOST INTENSE SUPERVISION, BASED UPON LEVEL OF NEED. PERSONS WHO LIVE IN SUPERVISED OR SUPPORTED LIVING APARTMENTS GENERALLY RECEIVE LESS INTENSIVE SUPPORT, WITH THE LEVEL OF SUPPORT BASED ON IDENTIFIED NEEDS. THE ARC OF MONMOUTH ALSO PROVIDES SUPPORTS TO PERSONS WITH DISABILITES WHO LIVE INDEPENDENTLY OR WITH THEIR FAMILIES IN THE COMMUNITY BUT CHOOSE SUPPORTS TO MAINTAIN THEMSELVES IN THEIR LIVING SITUATION. SERVICES ENCOURAGE COMMUNITY INTEGRATION AND PARTICIPATION.
ADULT SERVICES OFFERS DAY PROGRAM OPPORTUNITIES FOR APPROXIMATELY 139 PERSONS WITH INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. THE ARC OPERATES FIVE ACHIEVEMENT CENTERS AND A CREW LABOR PROGRAM IN WHICH THE PARTICIPANTS CONDUCT JANITORIAL WORK FOR COMMUNIOTY BUSINESSES AND MONMOUTH COUNTY SENIOR RESIDENTS. TWO OF THE FIVE ACHIEVEMENT CENTERS ARE SPECIAL NEEDS CENTERS; ONE SERVES PERSONS WITH MAJOR DEVELOPMENTAL AND PHYSICAL DISABILITIES AND THE OTHER SERVES PERSONS WITH DUAL DIAGNOSES OF DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY AND PSYCHIATRIC DIAGNOSES AND/OR BEHAVIORIAL CHALLENGES. THE ACHIEVEMENT CENTERS PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR VOLUNTEERING AND BUILDING DAILY LIVING SKILLS SUCH AS FOOD PREPARATION, CLOTHING CARE, COMMUNITY RECREATION AND PERSONAL CARE.
THE WORK OPPORTUNITY CENTER IS A COMMUNITY VOCATIONAL PROGRAM THAT TRAINS AND EMPLOYS APPROXIMATELY 135 PERSONS WITH INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. LOCATED IN LONG BRANCH, NEW JERSEY THE CENTER'S SERVED INDIVIDUALS LEARN WORK SKILLS BY COMPLETING WORK SUBCONTRACTED FROM BUSINESSES IN THE TRI-STATE AREA OR WORK PRODUCT THAT IS SOLD IN THE COMMUNITY. INDIVIDUALS RECEIVE COUNSELING, VOCATIONAL TRAINING, AND OTHER SERVICES ON SITE.
